@1984ad True. I did like how the interviewer had similar interests and experiences, and he was able to share a deeper insight of Columbia as an alum than I had heard from others on my own. It was a nice motivational boost. (Especially when hearing the negativity on ColumbiaSpectator.)
To all of you who may be freaking out because you didn’t get an interview- don’t worry! I happen to know an alumni who interviews for the CT area (but I’m from MA btw) and he said that only about 40% of applicants get interviewed, so it doesn’t really have an impact at all on whether a person will be admitted or not (unless you totally bomb the interview of course). Good luck to everyone!
@TomTanJoseR2022 hello! I had my interview yesterday at Starbucks in Soho and the best piece of advice I can give is to just RELAX AND TAKE A BREATH! The interviewers aren’t out there to trip you up or get you; they’re simply trying to get to know you outside of your application and answer any lingering questions that you may have about the college. My interview lasted 50 minutes and he asked no questions and we had a heartfelt conversation about his experience and my passions and interests and it went amazingly well. I wish you good luck!
Some Ivies (Harvard, Yale, Cornell, possibly more) have already announced the day that their decisions will be released. I kinda wish we knew Columbia’s too, but they’re historically pretty secretive about their ED process and often don’t release stats on it until much later, so I guess it makes sense that they’re not releasing a date yet.
I’m getting so anxious about these decisions haha, i feel like I shouldn’t get my hopes up since it’s so competitive, but there’s always that feeling of having that slightest chance haha… it feels like decision day is so far
It’s nervewracking because most of the applications would have been reviewed by now, so it feels like the decisions are just sitting there in their office lol
@starry89 i know! it’s even more nervewracking when you realize that they’re gonna finish the last batch of apps in the next week and then probably head to committee with the best ones in the first week of december or even sooner
I’m from Sacramento – my interviewer kindly told me there were about 50 applicants in a 50-mile radius approximately from my location. I thought that was a lot!
What gave you the need or desire to give back to Columbia University (as an interviewer)
What language(s) did you take in university? (It’s a requirement for Columbia Graduates to be bilingual before graduation) @swimv1017 Hope that helps, these are two of the four I asked.
Does anyone know where we can track our financial aid papers other than the College Board site? I’ve signed into the official Columbia one, but all that shows up is the information for their different offices. I’ve submitted my CSS and IDOC documents a bit late (with their knowledge of me doing so), so I just want to ensure it all goes through properly. x
