I asked my counselor about the letter that one user received and she said she hadn’t gotten anything. My counselor is also close with my admissions rep and hasn’t heard anything about a date– I really think they’re still getting last decisions together and are gonna push for after the 7th. (of course I’m hoping for the 7th– this is all I can think about at all times).
@bagelboy lol mood
but yeah im gonna hold out some home for the 7th considering what happened in 2012 and how they shifted the date to a week earlier, but i guess i could wait for the 14th too (not really :(( :(( :(( )
before we all got on this topic I had interpreted the date (with no actual evidence or facts at all) as the second Monday in December (the 11th). That’s a decent middle ground, so I guess I predict that date?? When I applied to study abroad (I was a freshman when I got in, gone soph year in Ghana) the people who were tasked with making the selections actually knew about our college confidential thread and decided to release a day early to surprise us all and now I’m majorly paranoid about admin reading this thread even though there’s no reason why they would!! love that pre decision paranoia!!
@katewithak I think the Monday date from last year (Dec 11) was probably an anomaly because they tend to follow a Thursday schedule, but I’d be happier with Dec 11 over Dec 14 obviously haha
but that’s crazy that they knew about the thread! I’m guessing that all the ivies know about threads like these, but i doubt they have time to read through them lol (or at least i hope they dont read through our paranoid posts!)
Anyone applied for Sustainable Development?
Brown Admissions just posted on Instagram that their ED decisions are coming out in 13 days (which is obv the 14th) so maybe if the Ivies like to come out together it actually might be the 14th???
The Ivy League schools only have a common release date for RD. For ED/SCEA, each chooses its own date.
@skieurope, do you think adcom would be more likely to follow an established pattern (broken in the last year) or do what they did last year?
Personally, I do not think they will release on 12/7, in part due to the extensions granted for natural disasters. I know it’s a stressful time, but whatever date it is will be here before you know it. Try to find something to occupy yourselves.
I am told that in the olden days before the magma cooled and while dinosaurs roamed the earth, applicants had to wait by a thing called a mailbox until a person dressed in blue walked up with an envelope with the decision.
@skieurope Well said.
Fair point. Probably time to buckle down on a looming 10-page paper, anyways.
It’s a little disappointing that we don’t have a date yet. I think every Ivy has a date other than Princeton and Columbia (and maybe Dartmouth, but I’m not sure)
Just found this on the collegeboard website:
https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/college-university-search/columbia-university?searchtype=college&q=Columbia%2BUniversity%2B%28NY%29#earlydecision
Oops, click on deadlines and early decision/action
@mysticmangoqueen Yes, that says they’ll notify us by December 15, as in December 15 is the absolute latest that they would tell us. Tons of colleges use this date as a baseline, but very little actually use December 15
QB here, didn’t match i feel awful
I just talked to my guidance counselor and she said Columbia didn’t want to see my mid-year grades, so now I’m super worried they’ve already rejected me.
@macktheknife im sorry :(( im sure you’ll find a school where you’ll grow and prosper nonetheless!
@chemgirl18 I doubt that’s what it means. If you’re a competitive applicant, I bet you’re still in the running
@chemgirl18 Are you majoring in chemistry!?
