hey guys im not sure if this chat is still alive, but will columbia accept any november sats? i know some colleges do and can’t find a trustworthy source online; their answers have varied.
@mchen927 on their websites they state: “You must have all standardized testing completed by the November test date” so I think that they do accept November sats!
we’re almost 50 days until decisions come out––it’s scary that it’s that close!
this is more of a general question: but how would columbia see our first quarter senior grades? my school goes by the 6 term, 2 semester system. maybe i should ask my guidance counselor.
but i am also taking two college courses, and since the only grade in the gradebook are our first and second exams,so i’m a bit worried about columbia seeing a C
this is what Columbia’s site says:
Please have your school submit the Mid-Year Report as soon as first quarter or first trimester grades are available if you are an Early Decision candidate; for Regular Decision candidates, as soon as first semester or second trimester grades are available. We will accept the documents either electronically or in paper form via postal mail or fax.
@1984ad
thank you! my HS grades are A’s, but hopefully i wont need to report my college class grades :0
@macktheknife you most likely will still need to report your college class grades in some way/shape/form since they’re still technically your high school grades even if they’re not at your high school
@1984ad RIP lets ace this paper
@macktheknife haha i hope we both get in! i hope everyone on this thread gets in
i submitted my application last week so ive just been super nervous ever since. like i think i have a good shot but at the same time idk what to do with myself anymore now that my essays and stuff are out of my hands. ive been helping a few people in my school with their essays to some schools, and i need to start my own RD essays, but senior year is just coming down hard on me with all the things i need to study for lol. i just cant wait for mid december so i can have the stress of not knowing my decision off my shoulders at least lol
@1984ad true!! good luck to you. if you ever need someone to talk to just pm me : )
@macktheknife thankyou! good luck to you as well
what’s the exact day we know our decisions…or do we not know yet??
@icepinky19 typically it’s been around December 11th or 12th. ex:
Thur, Dec 12, 2013
Thur, Dec 11, 2014
Thur, Dec 10, 2015
Mon, Dec 12, 2016
i’ve always just lurked on cc but i wanted to be part of something before we all submit apps! good luck to all of y’all!
@brndnh yay! good luck to you too what major are you looking into?
Hi guys! For Columbia’s first supplemental question, how did you answer it? I’m pretty sure bullet points are the way to go here, but did anyone do something else? ED 2022!!!
@BuildBot hi! there are a bunch of ways to answer it, you can’t really do it “wrong.” I’ve seen past applicants who were accepted that have written the list supplements as pure lists, and I’ve also seen successful applications where they wrote them as lists with a small sentence-long explanation. so i guess do whichever ones feels best. you can either list a bunch of words to cover the widest scope, or you can list like 4 or 5 words and explain them briefly. the same goes for the books/movies/etc.
@BuildBot hey! i have a sentence at the beginning explaining what type of works interested me and why i liked those works, and then i listed out titles by commas
Hey guys! Totally insane that apps are due in just a week. I was at campus a few days ago and I found the owl in the Alma Mater statue, which has me feeling pretty good! What are your guys’ second choice schools (given the admission rate, it’s a good idea to have a few backups!) Mine is Wellesley- very different from Columbia, but great in its own way.
what majors is everyone thinking of??
