Columbia University ED Class of 2022

just got offered an interview, anyone else?? i’m so excited!!!

Did those of you who got offered an interview submit your applications in early? Does that matter? Trying to figure out if I’m going to be offered one. I live in the ny/nj area.

Just got my interview too, and I’m in Singapore! So pumped! @syog I applied on Nov 30th so I don’t think it matters.

Ugh. (I assume you mean October 30th

Is anyone else NOT seeing a checklist of application materials in their Columbia portals? I’m getting a little paranoid about them receiving all my stuff because most of my friends receive checklists from their schools saying if the admissions office received each piece of the app. I’m assuming Columbia just doesn’t track that in the portals?

I don’t see anything on the portal yet either but they said November 8th. Tomorrow…
Anyone know the timeframe of when I’ll know if I got an interview?

@syog I submitted on October 31st and I’m also in the ny/nj area. I’m anxiously waiting to see if I get an interview

Let’s hope we both get one!

@syog I also applied on October 30th and I was offered an interview on the 4th. I’m in a relatively rural area on the West Coast where there aren’t an abundance of almuni either (I presume).

Hey, heard back from someone that there were 69 ED applications to Columbia from Chicago… this number seemed relatively low considering there should be over 4,000 total… I know they don’t do quotas based on region but i couldn’t help but wonder who the other 68 applicants were and how many were going to be picked. Also I haven’t heard anything about an interview which I find a little worrying but I know not everyone gets one.

I don’t see anything on the portal yet, just my ID. Should I email them asking about the tracking information?

I think interviews are mostly random to be honest, even though some of them are constrained by geographical area. I’ve also heard that they try to match you up with someone close to your major, so some people might not have been offered one due to this reason.

@theboywhodied As for tracking info, I would probably just give it another day or two.

@bagelboy how’d you find out how many applicants there were from Chicago?

UPDATE: The email says November 8, but the portal says this:

“Early Decision applicants can check the status of their application materials online between November 9, 2017, and November 30, 2017.”

@theboywhodied

Oh ok, thanks. So I guess I’ll just wait until tomorrow. @1984ad

If u check the date on the portal, it changed from the 8th to the 9th. I guess tomorrow?

Obviously I really want an interview. I’ve heard most people in the ny metro area get interviews bc there are so many alumni here. Don’t know if that’s true or not. Just going to wait it out.

My counselor is a Columbia alum and is doing interviews and has numbers sent out by the school itself. Apparently interviews are chosen based on proximity to the applicant’s high school.

@bagelboy Interviews are kind of a weird process. My interviewer was from the same general area as me and the same major as me, but the interview itself was over Skype because she’s still at the school as a senior. I’m sure that there are Columbia alums in my city, but I’m glad I got to talk to a senior instead because I think she was much more chill than anyone else probably would’ve been.

Still no update to the portal today? Maybe it’s still too early in the day?

^^Still no update. Lmao am I just being obsessive now?
