Y’all this no-portal thing yet is stressing me out. I got midterms, a play, all this other stuff, but Columbia apparently can’t open a portal.
Just logged into my portal and my application checklist is finally there
Mine too, I think they just put the checklists up!
just saw my checklist and i’m glad everything is received/processed for me
I’m on the same boat! Just checked my portal and everything is submitted!
i interviewed already so now all i gotta do is wait lol
fingers crossed for all of us !
My portal says that everything was received. Do they update on when they actually review or process the application? Also, do they only start sending out interview invitations once they start reviewing your application? - AKA by when would I know if I will get an interview or not?
@theboywhodied They don’t do any updates on the application status, they just tell you if you’ve sent everything in and then they deliver the decision next month.
Interviews are semi-random, and not everyone will get one. Some people are offered interviews rather early, and some are offered them pretty late. I’d say that if you don’t get offered one within the next week, you will likely not receive one.
Oh ok thanks. I live pretty close to nyc so hopefully I get one @1984ad
Question- the decision will come through on the portal, correct? Not via email?
@katewithak I believe how it works is that you’ll receive an email that’s basically like “Your Decision is Ready” and then you follow the link to the portal, where you can view your decision. Most people skip this step though and just go straight to the portal at 6 o’clock or whatever time it is.
It would be extremely terrible to have your decision delivered over email haha, just imagine getting an email and immediately finding out you were rejected in the subject line !
Honestly, I’d be more fine with that! I tend to prefer news/decisions/etc right up front with no beating around the bush, so I’d prefer the email way, but it’s obviously not my choice, lol @1984
I couldn’t find a clear answer on this, but my school has a bit of a weird system with grades - WE receive our mid-semester/quarter grades, but they don’t go on your transcript or anything and I’m pretty sure they get thrown out. I got mostly As this quarter except a B in Spanish - does my guidance counselor need to send in my quarter grades for ED? Meaning if officially my school doesn’t do quarter grades, will Columbia be okay with them not being sent in? I’d really rather not have my B in Spanish reported.
No. However, some schools send them automatically, and some AO’s have been known to contact GC’s for an update before the decisions are final.
I can’t find my materials checklist anywhere. I followed the link sent to me with my Columbia ID, and when I log in, there is no checklist, only the bullet-pointed information regarding applications. Help?
That’s odd. I see bullet points and then an application checklist. Maybe try contacting Admissions?
I got an alumni interview invite just yesterday and I sent in my application October 31. Also I will be meeting them Monday 20 so is it a good sign I got an interview or just standard, keep me posted! Good luck!
I emailed the admissions office and they told me they have my materials, but it makes me nervous knowing that everyone else is seeing a checklist in their portal. Admissions didn’t seem to have an answer for me and it makes me think that I might have an issue when decisions are released.
@TomTanJoseR2022 Congrats on the invite! Interviews, however, are largely random and based on your proximity to alumni, so they don’t hold much weight in the admissions process.
@acaciacat I would maybe wait another day or two, and then try contacting them again to see if there’s anything else you can do before decisions come out. Have you looked at your financial portal too? Check and see if there’s a checklist there as well
@1984ad yeah, I got my interview request a few days ago and my interviewer is a junior currently studying abroad in France so the timing is off. I hope she’s cool about everything.
