@writeon congrats!!! Are you planning on attending?
Thank you! I am unsure right now. It felt like such a long shot that I did not think it was even a remote possibility. I am going to visit before deciding.
@writeon congrats! Where did you plan to attend before?
Thank you!! I’m committed to Boston University right now.
@writeon what was ur stats? Also did you send in anything more than just the LOCI?
34 ACT, didn’t take SAT or SAT II’s
White, middle class female
My LOCI was highly specific to why I want to go to Columbia (they have a niche program not offered elsewhere in the college for my major), and I included a research paper I had just completed (it had a full lit review and original study performed). I would anticipate that it was likely my LOCI that helped as my stats are just kind of average.
@writeon I got off for college too. When were you planning on visiting bc they aren’t having anymore actual admitted student days anytime soon? And what do you think you’ll do when you visit?
Hi, did anyone get any email, I haven’t got anything

I don’t think there are any formal visit days. I am going to call early Monday to set up maybe a tour if it’s possible. I’m planning to fly out to visit on Wednesday.
Just a heads up. Finals week was last week and the last day of classes is Monday. I’m coming Monday and I would highly suggest you do too because everyone will be moved out by Wednesday. @writeon
So I’m guessing it’s a bad sign that I’ve not gotten an email yet
Does anyone know when the second wave (if any) should be coming out?
Hey guys, do you know if anyone got off the Columbia engineering wait list?
Can any domestic students call the admissions office to check when a second wave could come out (if any)?
I don’t think there will be a second wave, but I will try to give them a call after my AP exams. According to the thread last year, there didn’t seem to be any. I’ve given up a bit. I’m already very happy with the school I’m committed to so there is no point in wondering if I’ll get off Columbia’s waitlist anymore. Wellesley 2023!
It’s really strange to me that despite it not being true for the past several years, they say that they “typically notify candidates no earlier than May 15 and no later than June 30,” especially if there is no second wave after the May 10th releases.
Yeah, can someone explain this please? Maybe they are notifying their favorite candidates earlier? Or is this phenomenon of getting accepted earlier off the wl, alike getting a likely letter during the regular round?
In the past years, Columbia has notified people after May 15, but recently in the past two years, it has been the second Friday of May, much earlier than May 15. My guess is that they’ve been expecting to notify people after May 15 but probably decided to notify people earlier so they can get an earlier response from those who were accepted off the waitlist and that way, they have more time to release additional waves if there are any. Assuming that most people accept their offer from the first wave of waitlists, there wouldn’t be additional waves and if there are, then even less people are accepted.
Yeah, 2 of my friends got off the waitlist in the third week of april. They both are musicians.
