<p>sure many closeted homosexuals date the opposite sex, either because they are in denial, or wish to appear normal (whether they should is a debate I'm not going to get into), but it does not change their true underlying desires.</p>

<p>Yeah, I think it would be very irresponsible to pretend to be something your not. It's terrible when a gay person is dating or even marries a woman and lives in misery--it never works out and leaves two people hurt and confused.</p>

<p>being sexually attracted to same sex is absolutely not a choice. now,, acting stereotypically gay is a choice. </p>
<p>homophobes are usually gay themselves and deeply repressed. any healthy straight person does not spend his/her time worrying about what gay people do. </p>
<p>for homophobes, well, would you be surprised to know your pastor is gay? so is the televangelist you watch on TV everyday. so is the wealthy businessman who donated a million dollars to your local church. yep, you'd be surrpised how many of the worst homophobes are gay themselves. occasionally, they are caught and exposed. it's embarassing, and then they hide or commit suicide. i can count since 1980 10 US congressman, conservative republican homophobes, who have been caught with their pants down w/ a young boy or a man. </p>
<p>let's not even go into islamic countries, where homosexuality is outlawed, but a huge percentage of wealthy men keep young boys as lovers. </p>

<p>Being gay is not a choice. Why would I choose to suffer from descrimination? Do you think I enjoy feeling terrified to the point where my boyfriend and I rarely show even the slightest displays of public affection? Do you think that I enjoyed the sheer awkwardness of telling my parents and friends that I'm gay? </p>
<p>In the beginning of this thread someone stated that being gay is akin to being promiscuous. I have had several boyfriends and remain one of the few virgins in my school. There are certainly as many (if not more) hetereosexual sluts as there are homosexual sluts. </p>
<p>To those of you that are opposed to gay people, why do you care? I don't understand why we receive the attention that we do. Does two men kissing really threaten your livelihood? You certainly must have better things to worry about. </p>
