ARMY STOLE the Commander in Chief trophy last night...they also left a note with it!! If that's not motivation for Navy to win Saturday I don't know what is...GO NAVY BEAT ARMY

Hahaha....saw this today.

Brilliantly gutsy.

It's all because the trophy is missing it's true home.

And that of course is USAFA ;)

hahahaha falconhopeful...funny....afa has no chance, i mean...they lost to ARMY! how sad

as i lament to say this, i must admit that that prank is pretty amazing. but of course navy is going to win! GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!

Was it REALLY cemented in place like they said at NASS? Or was that just a rumor? If it was, well then, I have to have a bit of grudging respect for Army...they either jackhammered that thing out and managed to get away with a lot of noise or know an ingenious way to melt cement.

i read that it was recently moved from the case to the locker room to provide motivation for the football players (someone may have posted that link on another thread i think), and then Army took it from there. wisconsinavy2010, i totally agree: that BETTER be motivation to win! beat Army!!

that little stunt may backfire on Army because it may fuel the fire to BEAT ARMY! The evening news said the trophy weighed 350 pounds! I laughed when I heard the news, but my daughter was kind of irritated by the incident. By the way, she loves her school!

tv news said "350 pounds," but that sounded a little excessive to me, army guys couldn't manage that--trophy actually weighed 170 pounds.

So, Navy isn't motivated enough? ;) They need a prank to get truly interested in winning a football game? I just can't wait until Saturday! :D

Go Army! Sink Boat School!

haha...that's funny this ARMY prank is just extra motivation to make the win even sweeter...cannot wait for the game!!

The trophy was found in a storage room. Read the comments below from Coach Paul Johnson during his daily press briefings posted on www.navysports.com:

Q. That trophy weighs about 70 pounds. How do you think they got away with
it?

A. If it was West Point it probably took three or four of them to carry it.

Q. How many of your guys did it take? Two?

A. One guy put it in there I think. One Marine.

Heh, heh......

OWNED! :D

haha...we must remember they are West Point Cadets did we expect only one or two of them to get it...of course not!...GO NAVY BEAT ARMY

I think the trophy is still at large. I didn't see anything in coach Johnsons comments that indicated it had beed found. Better for the rivalry anyway....

Yes sit has beeen found.

Silly Midshipmen. They stole their own trophy. Truly America's best brightest.

Actually, the following probably happened:

1) Whoops moved it to play a prank (highly likely), but it would have been impossible to drive it to West Point because it occured on a weekday and to be back by 2400 to sign TAPS is IMPOSSIBLE.

2) It was a smart move on MIDN's part because it provides more motivation (as mentioned) for the team.

I would not say it was silly. In fact, I think having hid the trophy the entire week would have been a better idea because it would have provided even more motivation. Too bad it was found.

Well, I hope it didn't motivate them too much. They should have had the common sense to know that no cadet could have driven all the way up to Annapolis on a Monday night, steal the 117 pound trophy, and hall it all the way back. Anyway, good luck this weekend, you're team will need. Navy may have more wins then Army and are favored, but Navy also ranked 117 in strength of schedule.

Hahah Love what the coach said!

I am all ready for the game this weekend....got a full array of game snack foods and a cleared schedule. HOORAH

GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!

actually....ANNIHILATE ARMY!

I agree it would be outrageous to believe that it was taken to WP and I never believed it when I first heard it. Don't forget, though, there are whoops here at USNA on exchange.

The MIDN's at WP, on exchange, actually painted the Army parade deck bleachers with "NAVY, BEAT ARMY".

Sure hope they used the same washable paint that was left over from that plane they painted in CO.
