Common App essay question.

Hey all. For the Common App I decided to do the essay of my choosing and I wrote about pens. It sounds retarded but they stress that the application essay is meant to teach the AO about you, right?

But now I'm having second thoughts. It definitely tells about me, but in an implicit way. Is that good?

Implicit is usually good. If you want, I can skim it and give you my impressions. (Full disclosure: 09'er, already submitted EA apps)

I would, but I'm embarrassed. It's not a trust issue. It's a "I'm afraid my essay sucks" issue.

No pressure - but if theres any person you could show your essay to and not be embarrassed, would it be someone who you don't know and will never meet? Alternatively, how do you plan to improve it otherwise?

ill read it!

I think writing about pens is pretty cool. It shows that you're not afraid to take risks. If you make it work, then it should be a really cool essay.

I'll read it for you but i'm a 09er. I already submitted my EAs
