Hi! I'm filling out my common application and I need to retake my SAT. I've listed the test dates I took and will retake, however, there is one university i'm applying to that for EA requires you submit the app before 10/15/12 so I will not know my scores for Oct 6th. I will be forced to put down my best previous scores and unfortunately they are pretty bad compared to how much i've practiced and improved. Will the university receive the Oct 6 scores before they begin the admissions process? I'm guessing they will receive it around the end of Oct when they will already have received my application with those low scores. It's basically a bad first impression. Does it really matter? How does this work exactly? The university i'm speaking about is University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Thanks!

Fill out all the information you have know. Then, when you take the SAT on 10/06, have the scores sent directly to the college. They will get there a little after the 20th. Therefore, it is HIGHLY unlikely that your file will have been read at that time. So, they will see both you old (bad) scores and you new (hopefully better) scores. Therefore, it doesn’t really matter because it is out of your hands at this point. They aren’t going to hold your worse scores against you if they do SuperScore.

Best of luck,

Yes, UNC will see your SAT score. It accepts through the November test date for Early Action. On the Common App, it tells you to write down the dates of tests you’ve taken and plan to take, so just note that you’re going to take the Oct 6 SAT.

Alright thank you both so much!
