Common Application Feedback

I just finished writing and making a first pass of editing my Common Application Essay and I was looking for some feedback.

I wrote on this topic: Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.

I wrote about an experience with Texas football, but I feel it doesn't show enough about its impact on me. I am just looking for some feedback on what to change to improve my essay.

I have to send this essay to both Northwestern and USC so i'm feeling pretty nervous.

Just PM me if you are willing to read it.

Thank you.

I’ll read it

I hope you received helpful feedback on your essay. Remember that essay writing is not easy. Do not be disappointed with the first, second (or even third) draft of your essay. Good writing takes time. Since you have already started working on it, you are already ahead of most students. Be patient with the process, and I’m sure you will be proud of the final product. Good luck!

Thanks, I already found someone who has helped me edit it a few times and is working with me closely.

Perfect; that it the best approach. My other tip is that you may want to check out the essay for schools that have a Common App Supplement. Most students wait until the last minute to read the essay questions on the Supplement, and then they are scrambling to write another essay. Not all schools have an essay on the supplement, but it’s good to know “sooner rather than later”. I spent over 25 years working in college admissions, so I’ve read thousands of essays. Any other questions?

Can I send my Common Application Essay to you for editing?

Yeah I’ve been looking at the supplement questions and i’m probably going to start those this week.

I won’t be able to conduct a full editing, but I can review it and let you know if you are on the right track.

I can read it if you pm me.
