CommonApp recommendations after deadline?!

I'm going crazy because my teacher told me that she wouldn't get to my recommendations until AFTER winter break, which is the first week of January (the 5th or so). However, all the deadlines are on the 1st.... what do I do?!

I really don't want my application to be hurt because of my procrastination... it really sucks! I'm so nervous now and I don't know what to do. CommonApp says to submit all forms by the deadline. Eek!

"All of the components should be submitted or postmarked by the deadline date. However, some schools may be more lenient with school officials. You will have to contact the school to see if they will accept school forms later than the stated deadline."

I'm going to ask her again and then ask my current math teacher. I really wanted my previous year teacher to do it because I really think she'd write the best one. Procrastination got the best of me!

What do I do? :(

If you gave your teacher ample lead time (and by that I mean at least a couple of weeks before winter break) and she will not get to it until after January 1, then it appears she has let you down. Still, if she is the best person to write for you, let it be. The online system will accept school forms submissions after the deadline, and colleges will still be sorting and collating paper and electronic files well into January. If the letter is not there on January 1, it will not be missed–not right away, at least.

If the rec doesn’t get sent in/postmarked by the deadline some schools roll your application. You should check to see which schools do that.

Well if you think your application will fail to meet deadline and not reviewed then simply suggest to your teacher the least they could do is just check the simple questions and no need to send a seperate letter. Doing that part of the rec is very easy.

I notified my cousnelor and teacher late November or early December about rec, and spoke of the deadline and both stated they will have it done by then. I recently was getting concern as none has been submitted yet, went to my cousnelor this week and she said she didn’t receive the forum… wow, how awful that would have been. So now I resended it. Double checked with my teacher, she said it will get done.

Point to note: If your counselor has not submitted forum, I would just double check to make sure they received it.
