Communication Design Programs

Hi, My daughter has Syracuse's Communication Design Program as her top choice. Recognizing that it is a very selective program I want her to explore as many options as possible. What other programs come to mind that emphasize advertising and marketing as well as graphic design? I'm finding many programs are not as global in their approach as Syracuse's. She is looking for a comprehensive program that focuses on problem solving, marketing communications as well as graphics.
Any thoughts or suggestions. She has a 3.5, strong art portfolio, average sats 1700, honor courses and owns her own photography business. Demonstrated passion with the arts.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi ErnieD, Check out Ringling College of Art + Design’s Graphic & Interactive Communication major (also Advertising and Business of Art & Design) at [Ringling College of Art and Design: Home](http://www.ringling.edu) . You will also find info on students’ achievements in the ADDY awards, as well as the Photography major and facilities. My kiddo is a junior Illustration major and has taken Communication courses, both required and as electives; she loves the program and the college! Is your daughter a senior? Best of luck!

I also want to do Comm Design, and I’d recommend looking into University of North Texas, Mizzou’s J-School (for either design in advertising or in news media), Washington University in St. Louis (probably too far a reach), Oklahoma Christian University, Rhodes College (which allows students to take courses at Memphis College of Art), Texas State, and Belmont University. Keep in mind that a university’s communication design program may be labelled as graphic design, studio art, creative advertising (I’ve only seen SMU call it that), design communications, etc. so you have to really look into the program itself to see if it’s what you want. Best of luck!
