I want to major in communications. What are some of the best colleges out there for that major?

Syracuse has a good program.

There have been many threads about communications/journalism schools. Do a search.

Communications major offered at only a minority of select universities.
Top programs at Northwestern, Stanford, Michigan. Penn.
Other notable departments at USC, UCLA, UNC, Syracuse.
Cornell is the only other Ivy offering major (through its agriculture school).

UMiami, Missouri, Indiana, Ohio State, UVA all have top communication schools.

Ohio State and Indiana are pretty easy to get into.
UM is hard and UVA is extremely difficult.

UMich communication school is terrible. Don't even consider it. Ithaca College is much, much better.

Like others have said, UNC Chapel Hill, Missouri, Syracuse, Northwestern, etc. are great. Those are the ones I'd recommend.

If you're 100% sure about your major and want to be completely immersed with lots of opportunities, I'd suggest Emerson....

Thanks for all your schools guys! Now i've been told that one shouldn't major in communications because it's very hard to get a job with that degree. Is it better to double major with like business?

Well, it depends on where you want to go career-wise.

Journalism is the most difficult field to get jobs in, but if you're serious about doing it, your best bet would be to double-major in communications/journalism, then a second topic of your choice. Being well-rounded is important; it doesn't matter how well you can write if you don't have any other knowledge. Sociology, psychology, criminal justice, health, politics, business, etc. could all be good options - it depends on what you want to write about.

If you're looking to work more in the PR sector of communications, then yes, I'd say that at least a business minor would be good.

Thanks for the advice. Now what excatly is a public relations major?

PR is basically communications, but from a business stand-point.

Some schools actually offer a separate major in PR.

Yea its pretty much wat world Changer said. And yes some schools offer it as a separate major. For example: The University of Miami.
