My son is currently finishing up second year of community college and we are trying to pick a four-year college for him. His intended major is Communications with an international bent. He speaks French because he went to school in France from Grade 1 through Grade 6. He wants to do a Study Abroad program in Spain so that he can enter the job market as a Communications major with fluent French and Spanish.

We live in northern New Jersey and we are looking for a medium-sized school within a two-hour drive of home. He is about a B-average student.

Does anyone have any advice on either schools or programs that we should investigate? Many thanks

Don't know about the international bent. If you can stretch it to 3 hours, for communications and his gpa I would look into Towson, Quinnipiac, Hofstra (an hour away-people really are impressed with their communications program), Marist, Ithaca (further than you would have liked and can be competitive depending upon major selected within the school of communications).

jduffy940 yes, check out Arcadia University in Glenside, PA (a suburb of Philadelphia).

They have a WONDERFUL communications program, and when D went last year to check into it the dean of the department described it as "Global Communications". That dept also has a mandatory study abroad as part of its program.

Small/intimate campus, nice people, good scholarships without additional paperwork.

Rolling admissions.
