Community bathrooms?

So I read other threads in the forum and some spoke of a separate changing partition in Hedrick Hall bathroom stalls. I'm confused as to which bathrooms (I am afraid I am unsure of the difference between north and south Hedrick Hall) actually have such partitions and what they would look like, can anyone enlighten me?

Also, as far as the bathrooms without changing partitions go, would you just robe/towel up and go back to your room to change or would you just change in the middle bathroom (or would it not matter; or is there a changing room of some sort)? The bathrooms aren't co-ed like at Cal, right (I find such things awkward)?

By the way, I hear it is of absolute importance to wear flip-flops at all times. Are there any other very important things that I should remember?

you can always change in the shower stall. some guys just wrap their towel around and walk back to their room. the bathrooms are not co-ed. i recommend wearing flip-flops while showering just to be safe, but thats just a personal thing for me

lol

lmao at the notice... actually the co-ed bathrooms at cal wasn't that awakward... its not like everyone walks around naked...

Nobody has answered the specifics regarding north and south portions of a building and their differences in facilities.

I mean there are sometimes awkward situations that just occur.

Example: Somebody forgets to lock a shower stall and...

Cal has coed bathrooms?! Those lucky fools!

Errr... they do... because some floors have only one bathroom. But the squeamish girls usually go to the all-girl floors where they have all-girls bathrooms (unless they're just brushing their damn teeth)(but yeah, I think the girls are less thrilled about the idea of coed showers, even if they get stalls). Note that there are more girls on campus than guys.

But yeah... that was totally beside the point.

I dunno, some girls I know at Berkeley like to talk to their male friends as they're showering.

I think it depends on the floor you're on. Imagine a rectangle like this:

First square on top is the shower stall, which is separated by a curtain (represented by -----). Then the changing stall is the second square on the bottom, with the door at the bottom line.

Oh... I see.

But I hear only half of the shower stalls at Hedrick Hall have such partitions, which ones do and which ones don't? I imagine it annoying to change in a shower stall the size of a toilet stall. -_-'

Honestly, changing in the shower stalls is not that bad. The worst part, IMO, is trying to keep your clothes dry. By the end of the year, you'll most likely find that its much easier to walk to and from the restroom in a towel or robe and just change in your room.

And to answer your Q about the differences btwn the restrooms in the buildings, I would assume that its similar to Rieber hall in which the shower stalls w/changing rooms are on the South end whereas the ones w/out are on the North end.

really, its not that bad. just have your clean clothes in a bag and hang it on the hook right outside the stall door

i lived in hedrick last year.

NORTH: the good bathrooms. these bathrooms have changing partitions in the showers.
There are no urinals in the bathrooms (even the guy bathrooms) because I think north side used to be reserved for females only.

SOUTH: bathrooms have huge urinals (even the girls bathrooms) and no changing partitions.
This side used to be reserved for males only, but not anymore with the intermixing.

what about Rieber Hall??

@misterr
I thought about that. I would need a large supply of plastic bags though. Or just find a durable waterproof bag or something. Oo

@Jasonx88
Intermixing? I thought they weren't coed...

alexc:

For Rieber -->

South - Changing Stalls
North - No Changing Stalls

Taishaku:

I honestly just hung my clothes over the top of the door -- No bag needed really... just try not to drop anything.... lol.

All the floors are coed but the bathrooms are not. The intermixing Jasonx88 was talking about refers to the coed floors. Once upon a time the floors were not coed which explains why, on Rieber North and Hedrick South, the girls restrooms have urinals.

Yeah, hanging my stuff in two rows always seemed to be the easier way.

So wait... in Hedrick Hall, co-ed bathrooms, North and South side... are scrambled randomly between guys and girls (on any given floor, either side could be the girls' or guys')?

Um... I'm not too sure what you're asking... but, I will say that each "side" (North or South) has two restrooms. One male, One female. So for example: Hedrick 2N has one female and one male restroom and the same goes for Hedrick 2S.

OHHH...

Awesome, I can just walk a bit more and avoid the problems of getting your clothes wet by accident (walking a few meters isn't a problem if you live in Hedrick xD).
