Community College compared to HS

Hi, newbie here. I'm a Senior in HS this year and plan on going to a junior/community college (financial reasons) and eventually transfer to a university after I've gotten my general classes out of the way. I'm looking to get into business/marketing.

My question is, what can I expect at community college? I'm really clueless. I've been taking challenging Honors and AP classes in HS and they have been hard, but I work hard and have been able to maintain A/Bs in those classes (except for Freshmen and first half of Sophmore year, which screwed up my GPA... :( )

So what can I expect classes to be like in Community College? I assume harder than HS Honors and AP?

The difference in the difficulty of the material won’t be quite as big as some people make it out to be. Where you’ll see the difference is in the pace and amount of the material. College courses for the most part move more quickly, and you’ll be expected to do more on your own. The onus will be on you to do the readings before class, not after. Also, for many classes, you won’t be told explicitly what’s on each exam, you’ll be expected to know all of the material. And those exams will make up a much larger portion of your grade.

Obviously, each class is different. I’ve had professors give me a detailed exam syllabus and set them to be worth as much as the homework, but that happens far far less.
