Okay, I’m a community college student hoping to transfer in the fall. I’ve applied to DePaul (where I’m already accepted), Northwestern, University of Chicago, and Georgetown. I’m going to apply to other local schools but their application due dates are in a few more months. I have a 3.9 GPA at my CC (I got ONE B my first college semester, so I unfortunately can’t out-run that) and had a 4.0 in high school. I have great recommendations and am writing some essays that I think are coming along really well. BUT, I have a dismal SAT score. I have a 1740. I know it’s the age old excuse, but I’m an anxious test taker. So, there’s that. Of course, I wouldn’t have such a good GPA if I wasnt a dedicated student. Of course, I’ve been involved in community theater, I’m part of my college’s honor society for academic excellence, I took a summer for relief work in the Doninican Republic, and I travelled abroad across Europe this winter. So, I guess my question is, as a transfer student, even though they requre that you send your SAT scores, how dependent is my transfer application on that? Also, I’m aiming for excellent, challenging schools because of their rigorous coursework and internships opportunities because I want to eventually go on to law school. However, am I disillusioned to think they’ll give me a better education than, say, DePaul University? I just really don’t feel challenged at my community college. Any help you can give is much appreciated!
how did it go? I am interested
