Community College transfer to Universities.

Even though I might have the grades and the requirements to join a university. Due to the financial struggles, I have to opt for Community College.

Will I be able to attain in-state residency if I complete my Associate degree if I transfer to a University in the same state?

Short answer is no for the public universities.
The public U’s are funded by state taxpayers who have paid their taxes for years in their state.
The public schools are obligated to their resident students.

When you attend a CC, you are using the state’s coffers to attend a school whose buildings, personnel, and utilities are being funded by the state taxpayers. So if you immediately begin taking classes at a CC, you have entered the state for educational purposes and wouldn’t qualify for in state residency in the popular states.

What about states which aren’t popular. I wouldn’t mind studying in any states provided I can get a instate tuition waiver.

Even ‘unpopular’ states tend to restrict residency to actual residents. The best way to get residency is to reside and work in a state for a year before applying to be educated there.

If you can’t afford your first choice university, why are you willing to pay for out of state community college? Why not save money and go to college in your own state?
