My goal is to go to a community college in a different state then transfer to a 4 year university. I’m from Kansas going to Pittsburgh, PA and I want to make my CC basically free so I can spend my time paying off my uni’s payments. I will have to pay for out-of-state for my first year but I can be granted in-state for my second year because of their 1-year residency policy and also with my dad living there helps.
Can my out of state scholarships apply to community college? I know if it’s a state specific one or school specific one then it would be a no but for other local scholarships that I apply here, will it apply to a CC?
Oh it would also be very helpful if anyone have advice to going out of community college virtually free because that’s my end goal right now. Thanks everyone!
I doubt that scholarships given in one state can be used in another state, unless they are some sort of Federal grantt. More importantly, you really need to check on the residency requirements for PA. Most states will not grant you residency after going to college there for a year. If they did let you do that, then every student who goes to a state university from out of state would qualify for residency in their Sophomore year. If you really want to get PA residency, you will probably have to live there for a year without going to college.
