Howdy! I am currently at a community college with a GPA of 2.5. I will be applying to TAMU in February/March-ish. What are my chances of getting in as a sociology major? I still have my spring semester classes to take.

If I were you, I would try to apply on Jan. 1st. I would say the chances are slim with the low GPA. I know sociology is not that competitive though so maybe this might help. Will you have all the classes completed for your major by the end of the spring semester? That plays a big role as well. They like to accept transfers who are the closest to having all their pre-reqs complete. Hope this helps, best of luck to you!

ilovemath987,

Thanks for the info! I currently have 12 hours done. The other 12 will be completed at the end of spring. I spoke with someone from the sociology department and she said that my application will be on a hold until I send in my spring grades. In addition, there are no pre req courses for that major. You’re just given an additional coursework list on the transfer course sheet. There wasn’t any required courses. Here is the link for it. It’s a PDF. http://admissions.tamu.edu/admissions-staging/files/9d/9d570077-085d-40d6-b0eb-e6c11852bc27.pdf
What do you think?

All my grades have been put it and it looks like my GPA is at a 2.7. Not sure if that will help or anything.
