Community Service Scholarship

Does anyone know anyone who's won this? What sort of qualifications did the winners have? Has anyone here applied for it besides my D?

You might want to contact Vitrac. Her D1 was a winner 4 years ago. Traditionally they have announced the winners around March 10-15, IIRC.

They are not awarded until April 1st. I believe there is more than one recipient. Many people on here mentioned applying for it.

Yes, I believe they award about 30 of them, at least that was the number recently. I know there have been some changes in the amount. It used to be between $5K-$15K. According to the new application forms, now they are all $20K. Someone would have to confirm that. I do know they can be added onto a merit scholarship, so (for example) a Founder’s plus a CSS would add up to $42.5K, almost full tuition. Tulane won’t let you exceed full tuition, or maybe now it is full tuition plus fees, since fees are now included in the DHS and PTA awards. The application says full tuition, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it was that plus fees.

Just out of curiosity dlphnlvr, where did you hear a definite April 1 date? I know the web site says “by April 1”, but it has always said that before. They generally have sent out the awards a couple weeks earlier than that (at least that is what my ever worse memory seems to think), but who knows what will be this year.

oh I was just going by the website that said April 1st…I guess I misread it, was reading quickly. Just taking a break before we head out to parades and checked the forum quickly! Mardi Gras is officially in full swing down here! With Tulane being closed until Wednesday and then it being spring break I wouldn’t expect anything until after that at the least.

Have a great time!!

yeah, have a great time, dlvr. height of the season, yes? The CS is our last shot at Tulane. D and her mom are heading down on the 15th, so either they’ll be going to party in New Orleans or to get to know more about where D will be going to school next year. Either way, it should be a good time for mom and D.
