Okay, I'm very lost. I wanted to have community style bathrooms... And I applied for Reynolds Hall as my first choice. When I checked out the little info blurb for Reynolds, it said:

Home to the Wellness Lifestyle Program and Pre-Health Professions Learning Community

Suite-style hall

Room Types: singles, doubles, double with bath, triples, triple with bath.

Equipped with moveable beds, closets, dressers, desks w/ chairs, sink and mirror, small refrigerator. All furniture is hardwood.

Houses 243 men and women

Self-regulated visitation (see Visitation Options for specific information)

Meal plan required. Visit seminoledining.com for more information.

Students are responsible for cleaning their suite-style bathrooms.

Ummm, so does this mean that Reynolds doesn't have the community style bathrooms I was wanting? When it says room types...I saw "doubles" and I just assumed that meant community style bathrooms. But now I think that might mean that two rooms share a bathroom...? Or...? Blah. Someone help. Do I have the wrong residence hall? Where should I have applied? =/

If you want traditional hall bathrooms you would pick Kellum, Smith, Deviney or Dorman. They are less expensive housing and the hall baths are cleaned during the week. All the other dorms are suite style.

Well, I just figured that it would be easier to not have to worry about keeping the bathrooms clean. Especially my first year... And it would be nice to not have to get caught up in arguments about who's cleaning when... Assuming that it's 4 people to a bathroom, right?

Suite Style Hall: In a suite-style residence hall, two rooms are connected by a bathroom. Bathrooms may be shared by 4-5 students. Students in suite-style halls are responsible for the cleaning of their own bathrooms.

Traditional or Community-Style Hall: Community style residence halls are arranged in the traditional corridor style. Students on each floor share a community bathroom that contains several shower stalls, toilets, sinks, etc. Community bathrooms are cleaned by housing custodial staff.

Single Room: Only one person is assigned to the room. The number of single rooms on campus is very limited.

Double Room: Two people are assigned to the room. This is the most common room type.

Triple Room: Three people are assigned to the room. The rooms are larger than double rooms and are fully equipped for three students. These rooms contain two small refrigerators.

Quad: Four people are assigned to the room. The room will have its own bathroom and will not share with a room next door. The rooms are larger than double or triple rooms and are fully equipped for four students. These rooms contain two small refrigerators.

Any room designated “with bath”: This means that this particular room, regardless of hall type (suite OR community style), has its own bathroom. It does not share with the room next door or share the community bath.

We wanted to thank cybermom for all of her information as it has helped us a great deal. Our son has been accepted and we are off to preview this week. Your postings have given us lots of helpful information and ideas on things we need to check out. It is nice to have an expert parent helping us out so much in the process.

I agree that the other frequent posters you mentioned (PARENT2NOLES, FSU-UF and SKIBIRD) as well as NYCOLLEGEDAD and SUNNYFLORIDA and many others have really provided lots of helpful posts. I appreciate all of their knowledge and experience.

Most of my posts are information readily available on the FSU website if you know where to look. They do an amazing job of keeping the students, faculty and parents informed.
