Does any one have pictures of the bathrooms/showers in community style dorms? Do they vary or are they uniform? I am interested in how they are in Smith and Dorman.

I would also like to know how suite style showers work, like with the doors and such…will roommates from the other room just be able to get in?

they can get in if you don’t lock the door lol. the bathrooms in wildwood looked like this: if you open your bathroom door and walk in, the first thing you will see is the door to the other room and then either on your left or right (depending on which room you’re in because you know then left’s and right’s switch lol) there will be a toilet or a shower with a shower curtain. I really hated it because when the people from the other room showered, they left the floor flooded -_-

oh and macthief, I’m pretty sure smith is community style and idk anything about dorman…

Thanks Tina I enjoy my privacy, so that’s good to know!

yeah no problem I think we all like privacy in the bathroom lol ;)

Yeah, make sure your suitemates don’t lock the bathroom door. That happened to me on the first night of orientation, and when I knocked on their door, they weren’t even in there lol. But for the community style dorms, there’s a giant room with all of the bathroom stalls/showers. I went into Kellum for preview and it looked like a locker room set up, minus the lockers. :P

So, for the community style bathrooms, I know there are curtains on the showers, but do they hook up to anything or do they just hang there? I mean, can anyone just walk by and yank the curtain open? :/

I really don’t remember, I’m sorry. But I doubt anyone would do that!

Yes they just hang there lol and no I doubt someone would just yank it open. LOL

Haha, it’s a silly question, but there are pranksters and just plain jerks out there, you know?

I’ve never lived in community style, but I seem to recall reading somewhere that they are stalls; not curtains. Might be wrong though.

I was just discussing this in the UF forum, but I would doubt that they are directly comparable to locker room showers. Those are generally OPEN OPEN. I personally am hoping for stalls, not curtains.

That I can guarantee… they are not locker room style.

This thread is laughable. Maybe it’s because i’ve lived in Air Force dorms for years with suitemates. It’s really not bad whatsoever, at least they aren’t communal showers.

I’m pretty sure the community style showers are a stall that you can lock, like a regular public toilet. There’s a small area before the shower where you can leave clothes for when you get out, and then there’s a curtain with the actual shower. So there’s like a tiny room still inside the stall. At least this is how it was in my friend’s dorm; I actually lived in suite-style so I don’t know if all dorms are the same.

I lived in Deviney my first year, and i could tell you that community bathrooms DO INVOLVE GETTING USED TO. Be warned, weekends they are not cleaned. You or your dorm mates that go to the strip and have too much to drink may have their way in the community bathroom, and it is a pain. Shaving is a pain in the ass. Showering, use slippers. Other than that, its not toooooo bad.

I am an RA on campus in Kellum for the Fall, and I am working in Smith and Dorman this summer.

Bathrooms in Kellum and Smith have been renovated in the past two years. There are three shower STALLS, with a curtain at the entry point rather than a door (Kellum and Smith)

Dorman bathrooms are of similar set-up.

After watching this video.

The showers looks like it kinda hurts.

Lol Dang, no that’s how the showers are when you pull the showerhead off. Looks like it was pulled off to me. I’ve had it happen where it came off in the mids of a shower, got me square in the ■■■■■■■ lol
