<p>My D a HS Jr is considering Stony Brook for Journalism. She has added the school to her list as a financial safety with some parental pressure. Her preferences are to attend pricier, smaller, private colleges. </p>
<p>We are concerned about the reputation that SB has as a commuter college. We have heard that the school empties on the weekends as students return home to NY and LI. We are about 7 hours away so D will not come home on weekends. Will she be alone? </p>
<p>She wants a traditional college experience. Will she get it at Stony Brook? How do students spend the weekends? Are there parties? clubs? Events?</p>
