Commuting vs. Dorm; Friends?

<p>Hey, if I go to NYU, then i'll probably be commuting and live about a half an hour away with my sister.</p>

<p>So I was wondering how hard is it to make friends when you don't live in a Freshmen dormitory?
or would it be worth it to live in nyu housing for the first year or two?</p>

<p>i also indicated that I would be a commuter student when i submittted my app... is it too late to change?</p>

<p>People on this board wrote that living on campus is a lot better for your social life, meeting friends, etc...but that it's not impossbile to be a commuter.</p>
