Compare: Lenovo, HP, Asus, & Samsung Laptops

Hey guys! I was narrowing down laptop choices for college this upcoming year. I'm a business major, so basically any laptop would work for me. I'm staying away from Macs, though, because of the price, obviously, plus the different software needed for it..might be a pain in the butt, not sure, never owned one. But anywho, these are the laptops I narrowed myself down to. There's one Lenovo, HP, Asus, & Samsung Laptop I'm looking at..and honestly, I can't tell which is best. I dont need a crazy good laptop, but I'd like one that will last me my 4 years of college, and hopefully beyond, without a problem. I'm not a gamer, so hi-def isn't a make it or break it for me. I do photoshop a lot and have a bunch of movies loaded onto the computer, if that makes a difference. Listen to music a bunch. Which laptop would be the best buy for me in this case? Any advice is apprecited =]

thanks for the help!! =] If you know of other laptops that might be better, please do let me know!

Would you really not mind a 17" laptop? Technically speaking, you can carry it around, but relatively speaking, it would be more cumbersome than the 15" models you’ve listed.

Out of the 15" models, I like the ASUS the most for how you describe the possible use because it comes with a 750GB HDD instead of a 500 like the other two. This is 50% more room for all the movies, music, and hi data usage photoshop files. Plus it comes with more RAM and an i5 instead of an i3. BUT, it looks like it’s nearly double the cost from the Lenovo and HP. If that cost is an issue for you, then I would suggest the Lenovo mainly because it is considered a better business machine, and though I’ve never owned one myself, I’ve heard HP is horrible and just keeps getting worse. An i3 should be power enough for you and you can always upgrade your own RAM for cheap.

Stay away from HP. They seem to have serious hardware build quality and overheating issues.

Personally, I’d go for a Lenovo or an ASUS…better build quality IME, greater flexibility, and I’m not a big fan of 17" notebooks due to space issues.

If you’re going for a 17" screen…you may as well get a desktop IMHO.
