Okay... my best SAT score is 1460, and my mom (who is 55) - 1450. i thought that i beat her, but she told me that becuase she took it millions of years ago, that hers is higher? is this true? or is she making this up?? Thanks lol

no way...she is absolutely correct in order to match her 1450 you'd need like very close to a perfect score...because back than a 1450 was like 99%...i know there is a comparison chart pdf online by collegeboard...I have it but don't know the link...just google it...but yeah sadly your mom is right lol.

The test was re-centered in 1995. Roughly, you add 100 points to the old scores. All of us old folks are actually smarter than we thought we were after seeing the scores of you brilliant youngsters.

lol stop bragging...jk...we're the ones in the position of applying to college right now...you guys are supposed to be supportive ;-) haha

jp. you know that =)

Well if the scores are based on percentiles, then wouldn't it be easier to score a 1450 way back when instead of today, because people prolly did not do as well?

dangit, i might lie to her... lol i told her that they only added 100 pts to people at 1000 range.. cause it doesnt make sense.. if you miss, say 2 on the SAT that might be.. 1580, theres no way that thats equal to 1480 way back when... they docked 60 pts for each wrong answer back then? i just dont get it

Remember something else- back "in the day" we did not prep at all. It never crossed our minds! And we sure as h--- didn't get our scores online! It is truly a different world.

yeah.. well, shes smarter than i am.. i just wanted to beat her at something.. shucks... October SAT is calling me then..

So that means that my dad's 1520 was absolutely disgusting back in the day. Too bad my parents are way smarter than me.

yeah...that means that your dad actually scored a 1620 on his SAT! he was off the charts!

My Computer Science scored a 1580, and he didnt even know the SAT was split into verbal and math sections prior to taking the test.

1450 old = 1530 recentered
1520 old = 1600 recentered
1580 old = 1600 recentered

wow, people in my family always regard my 50-yr old cousin as a genius and always like to talk about his perfect SAT score. a 1600 is already wonderful today, but i had no idea that it was even more difficult back then :) so he really is a genius, heh.
