So I recently found out I got into Michigan State. I’ve got a 4.0 unweighted, ec’s, clubs, all that good stuff. My essay wasn’t very good, my AP lit teacher made corrections over it once and then I just decided to submit it because I was getting anxious. Anyway, I’m finding out that some friends at another school across the county have were wait listed or deferred, with State saying they want to wait to see their first semester grades. These friends of mine have the same GPA or a little less at 3.9, I know they take AP’s, they’re bright students, and they’re all involved. Any thoughts on why you think they didn’t get in. Another thing to add, they all submitted quite early while I only submitted a week ago and have already heard back. Any thoughts on why this might be?
BUMP because this is really odd!
I don’t think I was waitlisted yet, they just said they needed more time, and have yet to ask for my 7th semester grades, but at the same time, my application was compete September 22nd, while I have yet to get a response, my friend who applied to MSU a week ago (high stats) got in a couple of days ago!!
@msugirl2021 It’s also weird because admissions office reps from both Michigan and Michigan State came to a bunch of schools in my county and basically invited us to apply and told us there was a $2,000 scholarship for anyone in our county that got in because we’re an “under represented” county at both schools. So you’d think that basically after recruiting these kids they would admit them.
What county are you? I’m Macomb! I feel like it’s not my county though because girls from my school have been accepted, (again high stats) @College1235
Because you are competing against other applicants from your school / district, and your friends are competing against other applicants in their area. Different applicant pool.
@Rollout The school my friends go to is 10 miles from mine. The districts here are tiny, with a single high school in each and maybe 10 kids from each applying.
@Rollout Well people in my one high school district, with high stats who applied last week found out this week, so when will I average stats and applied in Septemebr find out? It’s just odd.
