was "more sarcastic" an answer choice to the "less evenhanded" question? I think I put more sarcastic but I can't remember why and it seems like a dumb answer choice now.

Can someone explain to me why it is complement and antecedent as opposed to afforded and forerunner?

@Eli, what was the question, I'll see if I can dig deep into my crappola of a memory and find you an explanation.

the sunlight shining on the ground was in response to the question that had to do something like "all of the following are mentioned in the last(?) passage except" i think some choices included possibility of life on foreign moons, knowledge of how to explore seas on other planets? idk...but the question is definitely right.

It was in regards to cartoons I think...

Crude animation _________ by film(?) was a/an __________ to modern cartoons.

Something along those lines

the consensus pick has been complement and antecedent, but I just didn't feel that complement fit

stephan: Wasn't it phrased like "the bottom of the lake actually had more exposure to sunshine than previously thought" cause I had that for an answer but not the one you guys are talking about... I think we are talking about the same answer but I just wanted to confirm it..

@Eli, I'm pretty sure that was an experimental one - as discussed in other threads, the cartoons/manga one?

^ No, I got that one too.
I pick complemented... on a fluke...

Eli-- the question was more like "crude animation _____ by the lights flashing from lanterns was a/an ______ to modern cartoons.
something like that.
i picked afforded by & forerunner.... i don't understand why the complement choice is better.

^ i picked afforded/forerunner as well.

clearly antecedent and forerunner both fit, but i think afforded fits much better than complement.

it seems as though the majority at CC feel this way

^ No, guys... think of it this way.

The animation is crude... it's not perfect, therefore it's incomplete... and needs to be completed... (aka complemented)...
It doesn't make logical sense to say crude animation afforded by the lights flashing... now does it?

As for forerunner and antecedent (well, both are right...)

Can anyone tell me what the "fundamental for simple" question was about?

^ It was on the Lake Volstok passage, about the environment after all the trees and such were removed, leaving just the bare essentials for life.

Ok, i have no idea what the whole animation thing was - can someone elaborate on that passage? I have absolutely no recollection of said passage.... -_-

@feed

woah i think i understand now.

at first i thought that the crude animation afforded the flashing lights,
but it was the lights that complemented the animation!!

thats dumb tho. lol both are wrong because its passive voice. the sentence should be the flashing lights _________ the crude animation. then it would be less awkward.

Estragon: crap.. I don't remember what I put.. can any kind soul help jog my memory by recalling some other answers for the "fundamental for simple" question?

Feed, from the 1st page: okay, why would the circus be a success by bringing in "parents"? no where does it mention parents, just adults...i guess they're the same but not really. Also, they mentioned $ twice--once in saying that animals are expensive, and another in saying that adults paid higher prices. it is obviously financial decisions, because the author doesn't really seem to think that attracting adults was what made it successful.

@joe

i think i remember basic, and naive for sure. thats all i can think of

oh i wish it was forerunner and afforded by.

yeah.. I think I put basic.. blah.. thanks giantsfan.. although I probably should not like you since I root for the Eagles .. lol..
