Wow, so many I don’t remember.

And btw, I don’t think it was derisive or irreverant. it was not disrespectful, but humorous… O well, we’ll all know in a couple weeks anyways, it’s not like what we think really matters >.< hehehe

I agree with all the following except:

Both passages agree that that knowledge that we generally know about Shakespeare are probably not accurate. <– The infamous debate about whether it is industry, inaccuracy, or genius is still on the rise. This may be the first time there were THREE answers that one could make a case for.

Hard facts were solid <– I believe the consensus was tentative (not fully developed), which makes sense considering the author’s entire purpose was to describe the uncertainty of the science world.

The guild’s approach was a practical means to their ideal. <– I believe that deep down in my heart, despite this being the consensus, the answer was a regression to midieval times because the words exact word “adherents” in the text followed discussion about how they wanted to maintain the artist+customer relationship of midieval times. The reason most people didn’t choose regression was due to its negative connotation, but according to the dictionary entry, it doesn’t have to be.

The Chinese mother feels isolation. <– Yes, I am the only one in the world to not pick this but hear me out: Isolation is the state of being alone. Her mother was surrounded by people, but could not speak with them. That is not being alone, that is being around folks but being reluctant to interact with them due to the language barrier. Dread means “to feel extreme reluctance to meet or face” which in my humble opinion fits the situation a lot better.

In case anyone wonders why I’m aggressively arguing for my choices in critical reading, it’s a backup just in case my 780 math and 800 writing fail HAHA.

@ jake,

I’m with you on 3. I had inaccuracy (I believe strongly to be correct).
Hard facts indeed should have been tentative due to the author’s leanings throughout the entire passage.

the other two, i’m gonna have to side w/ the consensus, srry mate. you’re 780/800 duo should keep you fine.

for those 4 i have industry, tentative, practical means for ideal, and isolation

regression and dread just don’t really fit imo

LOL thanks for the encouragement, einstein

The Chinese mother ‘feels isolation’ not ‘is isolated’.

by looking at this i think i got 7 wrong and 6 omit
what do u think my score will be ?

isolation can be a mental thing, jake.
and I don’t think I chose “hardfacts are solid”…what options are there? >.<

it wasnt hard facts, the answer was tentative

still missing 14 questions i believe

in the pipe passage, i think the montage was ‘more complete but still inadequate’ at least
thats what the big CR thread said

Women’s beliefs will not be different from men’s.

^^^^This one is incorrect by far

the answer was E. women will not vote independent from their husbands.

This answer choice was a classic trick because it made you assume something that wasnt stated in the passage. I mean, it’s not even arguable.

It said womens beliefs would be the same as their husbands in the passage..

i dont think it was women would vote independently of their husbands because the overall main passage was not about wives voting independently but WOMEN voting independently. the author stated that the gap between women and men has changed, not between wives and husbands. anyone agree?

Agreed with Zinokey. The first 3 lines clearly stated that the common belief amongst men was that women would share the same ideals, thus it would NOT make a difference.

Spidey can you explain why the answer is not “difficult” ? I chose tent at first but changed it after reading thelast couple paragraphs. He talks about how Hard Facts should be something we should strive for, but not something we should expect or something. Thus hard facts can be difficult/perplexing .

I was about to place a rebuttal on the women with different beliefs but then I realized it all depends on how the question was worded.
