Computer Science

I'm thinking of changing my major once I get to Albany to something else. Biology doesn't seem right for me after taking Human Anatomy. Does Albany have a good Comp Sci program? GAH I'm so clueless what I want to major in, but I don't want to go undecided.

Anyone? I figured it can't be bad because of the school of nanotechnology.

well i took computer science class at albany and the teacher was prolly the worst teacher i have ever had, but dont let it discourage you if its what you really want to do. If you do go just dont have Prof. Ekblaw as a teacher.

I would also like to know the answer to this.

Tymel…

Are you going in as a freshman? Why not go in undecided? My son is 2nd year, at an oos school. He declared accounting prior to starting as a freshman. Then took a lot of business classes for his major. Now, as a sophomore, realized it is not for him, and has since changed his major. My point is, if you are not 100% sure of your major, I think it is best to go undecided, take your gen eds, take a few classes that you might be interested in, and don’t worry about declaring your major until the end of sophomore year. You will not be behind, and you will have the opportunity to take classes that might lead you in a different direction, and if you can choose a major that suits you best, you will do well at it.
If you choose a major as a freshman, all of your classes will be suited to that major only, and you won’t be able to explore other areas of interest.

@Tymel I applied for Computer Science, but I am still awaiting a decision. I am coming in any college I am going to with a GREAT comp sci background/programming background. I tool Computer Programming 1 and 2 (both got 90+), but thats easy visual basic stuff. I then took Comp Sci 1 and 2(both 88+ I believe, dont have my transcript in front of me) and I am currently in AP Comp Sci and will hopefully do well on the AP exam in May.

Just make sure you are okay at least with math. Once you get into Computer Science it is REALLY math intensive. Luckily I have had great comp sci teacher who is also my honors calc teacher this year.
