confused about essay prompt

here is a question from real SAT tests (i forgot of which year it was)

Are people more likely to be happy if they focus on goals other than their own happiness?

does it sound like a nonsense? how could one not be HAPPY if they do focus on their HAPPINESS?

If you disagree then write an essay explaining why. Give 2 examples.

With some practice you realize the topic of the SAT essay really isnt that important. They are general topics for you to expresss yourself on.

But in answer to your question…focusing exclusively your own happiness would be the definition of selfishness. As social beings, our only true sense of fulfillment comes from felling the love of others. While we cant control others, we can encourage them to show their love by helping them find thier happiness. For examples just grab a couple love stories, and try not to use Twilight.

thx
now i get it clear
