Confused about Schedule

I have FASET this Sunday and I am really confused about what classes to sign up for :(.
I am not sure whether I want to do Chemical engineering, mechanical, or even AE. I know the chem requirements for general engineering majors and chemical engineering are now different. What would you guys suggest a schedule for fall semester?

AP SCORES
Physics C mechanics-5
Calculus BC-5
AP chemistry-4

I want to use my calc and physics credit, but am unsure about chemistry because I will get credit if I do Chemical engineering.

Thanks soo much

MATH 1502 - Calculus II (4)
ENGL 1101 - English I (3)
CS 1371 - Computing for Engineers (3)
PHYS 2212 - Physics: E&M (4)

You can add HPS 1040 - Health (2) if you like.

what would you suggest for second semester then? I am willing to take classes over the summer. I probably will take biology over the summer if i do chem E

MATH 2401 - Calculus III (4)
ENGL 1102 - English II (3)

Those two for sure. Everything else is up to you. With the recent changes to how AP credit is awarded for chemistry, I don’t know what to suggest since my knowledge is already out of date. If you want to hammer the core curriculum out of the way, take a [humanities class, and you’ll only need one more to fulfill the requirement. You need four social sciences](http://www.catalog.gatech.edu/students/ugrad/core/corec.php) courses to fulfill that requirement, so might as well begin sooner than later.

Summer classes aren’t a bad option, but try to not take classes too many semesters in a row. You do need a break from classes.

Hey,

Do you think i could do this. I dont want to take to much on first semester.

Math 1502 4
Phys 2212 4
Engl 1101 3
microeconomics 3
GT1000

Then for Spring
Math 2401 4
Engl 1102 3
CS 1371 3
then either chem 1310 or Chem 1212k

Summer
Biol 1510 or ME 1770
Pol 1101
HPS 1040

I am interested in doing GT Loraine so if I do that I will definitely take french courses. i took up to AP in high school, but was never very good at speaking or listening. But i am sure I could easily get an A in a beginning french course.

I know that many people warn against taking GT 1000, but there are several sections of GT1000 built specifically for a certain major:

GT1000 CHBE is for chem eng majors
GT1000 ME1 is for mech eng majors

Also, I remember there was a GT 1000 for undecided engineering, you should ask your FASET leader about it.

If you are leaning towards a major, or are thinking about it, one of these could be very informative. The “undecided” one that I can’t seem to find helped my friend choose to be a ChBE., so I would recommend taking the ChBE one if you are thinking about becoming one or you want to learn more.

Looks like a solid first-semester schedule to me.

Thanks so much.

It’s not required that you take biology first semester right? I took on level biology before switching into honors classes, and feel like I will be at a disadvantage. I want to take it over the summer so I can put most of my focus on it,but I was looking at this website and was confused why Biology was in bold.

http://www.chbe.gatech.edu/current/ugrads/old/pdf/new/01-18/03-04BSChECurriculumUpdatedApril05.pdf</a></p>

^

That predates my time at Tech. I’m under the impression that prior to that change, ChBEs didn’t have to take BIOL 1510. Unless BIOL 1510 is a prereq for higher-level ChBE classes, you don’t have to take it your first semester, and even if it is, you just have to make sure that you take it before you have to take those ChBE classes.

ok. thanks. I talked to a friend who is majoring in ChBE and he is currently taking it over the summer. Im still debating taking CS this fall, but I heard the Physics 2 and CS were voted hardest to get an A in, so it would probably be best not take them together so that I have a chance at a social life.
