My school doesn't offer any AP classes to sophomores or freshman so I am taking AP classes for the first time in junior year, in which you can only take a maximum of 3. I am taking 2 ap classes(chem and ush). I am def. taking the chem ap exam b/c i want to be an engineer. and i am taking a statistics class at a local college so i will be taking ap stat exam too. but idk if i should take the hist exam? for the first half of the year, i basically just bsed the class and didn't learn, but still got a 90 unweighted. now, i am starting to actually read and learn the material. but idk if i should take the ap exam? will this affect my chances of acceptance at colleges(i'm aiming for ivies, mit, stanford, basically elite colleges). also i have to self study the majority of the stat exam so idk if i can relearn the ush material. please help!

Why not take the Stat exam (I heard it should be simple) and the APUSH SAT II in June?

At my school, if you take the AP class, you to take the AP exam. So maybe check with your school to make sure you have to take the test. Besides, you take an AP class to get college credit and to take the AP exam. Otherwise, what’s the point in even taking the AP class?

APUSH exam is easy if you’ve sat in an APUSH class all year. By April of junior year, I basically forgot everything before the 1940s. Someone in April asked me what the XYZ affair was and I just like “Uhhhh…crap. smacks self” But the week before the AP test, I read the whole AMSCO book and ended up getting a 5. Just make sure to read AMSCO thoroughly, take a few practice tests & DBQs, and you’ll be fine.

But since you’re going for engineering… it honestly doesn’t matter much if you get a 5 on the exam. The main good thing about a 5 in APUSH for you would be that you might get an elective credit.

tom8: i’m worried that i won’t have enough ap classes/exams
spiritualwitch: two years of ush are required in my school and they offer ap for the second year so i decided to take it instead of honors since its a harder class.
CuteAccountant: thanks for this, it really reassured me but idk if i’m gonna do well lol. i have the REA book. is that good or is the AMSCO review material better?

three for junior year

I would go with AMSCO; more in-depth. But if it’s college credit that you’re after, without a doubt take the AP exam. Unless the school you’re going for accepts CLEP, which as far as I know is easier.

US History is pretty much a mandatory requirement for every college degree. If you don’t take the APUSH exam and pass, you’ll have to take the college class. Take the exam.
