CONFUSED - still waiting for other colleges? yet housing starts in a week?!?

So, right now I say I have a 50% chance of attending SLO now that I got accepted. I heard housing applications start next week. The other college I will probably get accepted to, I will hear back in March whether I get in or not. I can’t choose which college I would rather go to, they both have major draws! haha. so im 50-50 right now on which one i want to go to. Yet, I want to get into the dorm of my choice if I go to SLO… So, do I wait til I hear back from my other school, and take some time to think about it? Or should i apply february 23rd or whatever for housing to get the dorm i want. but then do i have to accept cal poly for sure and pay a deposit, when i might go to the other place instead??

advice?

Sign up for SLO housing and pay the $800 deposit. If you decide not to attend, the deposit is refundable until early August.

okay thanks. ill think about it, and if i decide i have a decent chance of going will deposit. its kind of unfair that cal poly does this before most people get all their acceptances! thats kind of mean! i heard you have to pay a small processing fee too if you refund your deposot. ok thanks for the info!

It’s like $20 or somethin for the processing fee. I think this method will tell Cal Poly which acceptees actually want to go to SLO.

ok sweet. thats like nothing. yeah, i guess its a good strategy to get kids to commit and get excited, not sure if its the right thing to do though haha.

Do all admission results come out before housing opens up?

^
No, students continue to be admitted after housing applications begin.

If I accept admission will cal poly tell the other schools i applied to? I want to get a good dorm, but I still want to hear from ucsb and santa clara. Ahhhh

^^kaicosmoz, I have the same question too. It seems that CA public universities would have access to this kind of information and it may influence the admission decision. Any, feedback??

The information goes into a database that all CA schools can access.
