How did this happen so quickly. I only sent my housing payment yesterday, and housing is already full. Wow, I was really excited about going to SLO until now because I won’t be able to live in a dorm. Is there anything I can do to get myself housing on-campus now? Thanks…

how?! so fast? i didnt even accept the school yet

Why did you wait?!?

Isn't it just a bit unreasonable that housing fills up before the deadline for actually choosing SLO? I was using the Open House as a way to find out what dorm I liked the best. Honestly I think it's crap that they didn't even give us an estimate to when dorms would fill up. Housing deadlines for other universities don't go by this quickly.

ouch.. GL dude. maybe you can do something by calling them?

Housing apps were out April 11 and you decided to wait until now? Housing for freshmen is already very limited; you should've applied the first day it was out. You should try looking into off-campus housing. Good luck.

Its understandable that he didn't apply for housing until now. I mean I am sure a big majority of the incoming frosh did not decide to attend Cal Poly until attending Open House which was only last weekend.

you can try for the on campus apartments

i would think some on-campus housing slots will open up after this weekend. the housing deposit is refundable (except for a $5.00 fee) so people signed up even though they weren't sure they were going to attend poly in the fall. after the may 1 deadline the people who decide against poly will be canceling their housing agreement.
i would contact housing and ask if there is list you can get on.

good luck.

does anyone know how much more will it cost to live in on-campus apartments? thanks

i'm sorry about the housing thing, that really does suck. apparently though if you're a freshman the campus is more ready to help you find a place to live!! yeah cal poly should build more dorms. good luck though, cal poly will still be fun no matter what, yeah i agree with doing the campus apartment things.

Cerro Vista, "on campus apartments" are returning students only. "Sophmore Sucess" program... As for new dorms, they are coming, either starting ASAP, to house in 2007, or start building in 2007, I can't remember which. Anyway, not soon enough to help this year!

Sorry about housing, hard life lesson to learn. When something says "first come, first served" it means they expect to run out of space (or items, or time, depending on what it is!) So next time, be willing to spend overnight in line if that is what is necessary to get what you want. Like concert tickets, or your kid into the local Kindergarten, or a house, etc, etc!

Actually the cal poly master plan is to have more students living on campus. There is the "Poly Canyon" project which is supposed to be the largest CSU housing project ever done. It will add 3,000 more spaces for underclassmen and the project has all ready began. Unfortunately we don't see that until class of 2009. By then all of us will probabaly be in the Cerro Vista or even more likely in our own apartments as most seniors are.

I went to Open house and submitted my SIR + Housing later and got in. You guys were just WAY to slow.
