Confusion about re-applying for Cal Grant

Hey, I filled out my 11-12 FAFSA a few weeks back, and I'm confused about the reapplication process for the Cal Grant. Last year, I received a Cal Grant B (need-based). Last year I did the FAFSA and gave the GPA verifications.

Now I am confused on whether I need to submit a new GPA verification form. I checked on the Cal Grant site and it says in bold letters:

Please note: The Commission will not process any GPAs that may have been submitted in prior years. In order for a student to be considered for a 2011-2012 Cal Grant award, a new GPA form must be received by the Commission by the stated deadline.

But then I look at my Cal Grant application status login and it says:

quote2011-2012 FAFSA - Date App Rcvd: 02/06/2011 - Complete
Grade Point Average (GPA) Verification - Not required for renewal students

So which one is it? Do I just need to submit GPA verification for the first year that I receive a Cal Grant, but not for the following years? Thanks in advance. I'm a bit confused because of conflicting statements on the website....

You are not required to submit a GPA verification form since it is a renewal. The wording is just bad on the first thing you found. I imagine it is only alerting those who are applying for new Cal Grants to not rely on any previously submitted GPA (which is odd for them to announce since this is fairly common sense that any new Cal Grant would need to have a new GPA verification).

Your Cal Grant portal already has it indicated that you do not need to submit the GPA verification again. You’re fine and only need to submit the 2011-2012 FAFSA to renew. But if you’re really paranoid, you could screencap that page to prove that it said it was not required.
