Congratz y'all, now my turn ;)

Hey Guyz,

I am a senior IB Diploma student..wanna know my chances for RD.

School: competitive public (~400 in gr.12) in BC, Canada
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Chinese, Canadian Citizenship

SAT I: Single sitting: 2190, Highest combined: 2250
SAT IIs: Pending

Courses: Most Rigorous (5Higher levels, 2 Standard Levels, 1 TOK, = Full load IB courses)

Recs: one teacher checked almost all in top few in my career and the rest in top 2/3% and the other teacher i think in top 2/3 or top 10. I dunno what's considered good but she MADE me read it and asked me what i wanted..i was just like "it's fine" LOL, i didn't know what to say ...
Counselor Recs: Top 10% in everything...gar. so mad.

Grades: i think my GPA is ~3.5-3.8 (this term) - 7 A's, 1 B this yr. IB Predicted: 36-38..dunno yet?

Awards: Gr8/9 Top academic (in my old hs) Gr 9/10 Top math, Top English, Top Science (separate awards), random music awards, community service award for 550 hours (in gr.11), science awards (provincial level), Canadian morehead semifinalist (interview tmw), math awards in earlier grades, published in newspaper and (inter)nationally recognized science journal, other random stuff i can't remember....i'll add when i have time..

ECS: some random stuff..newspaper v.EIC, community council vPrez, tutor (3 hrs/wk), scientific research w/ profs, violin, won awards in music, community service. etc....

there's no need to post this in every ivy board. which school do you actually want to go?

lol, if i only knew which one i can get accepted to! besides, just wanna know my chances so i can decide which ones to apply to ;) dun wanna waste 65+ dollars on schools i dun even stand a chance =D

dot dot dot, its hard to judge which school you'll have a better chance at, but you will have a better chance at a school you know well than one that you just "looked at the name and wowed". as someone accepted with way sub-par stats, I really believe that I was able to show how much I wanted to attend columbia and how well I knew the school.
I'm sorry but sounds to me like you are someone who is just picking a school by its name (based on how you posted the same post on EVERY ivy board) and that is no way to approach the selection process.

do you even know the difference in structure/enviroment/amosphere of all the ivies? or what a core is?

You started this same thread in EVERY SINGLE IVY LEAGUE FORUM. Nobody respond to this. If you want your chances, you to the FORUM DESIGNATED FOR IT.

as the previous two posters stated (rather harshly ) aiming at every ivy is not the right way to pick a school that fits you.

i seriously think lynda/desertman/kiria are(is) the same person..LOL, and i think i know who u are (u r someone in my school). one of my friends just told me that u mistaken me for someone else today but yeah, plz dun get mad when i am trying to get some advice to know which ones i stand a chance! =)

i think other ppl will agree with me that lynda/desertman/kiria are(is) the same person rite?

anywayz, if u are, i think u should help me out instead of getting mad...afterall, u already got into ED...=)

er.... -.-;; no I do have another account but not any of the above. plus I'm a girl lol why would I EVER use a guy acct (second notice that desert and I are BOTH online) I only have one laptop lol.

desertman/lynda/kiria: bec u are/is (god, this is hard on the grammar =D) the same person, plz just look at my response to ur other post in all my threads. dun hate me, u already got into ED, no need for competition, even though we are from the same school =)

thats it.. get on msn

kiria and desert are not my accounts for gods sake ...

i'm sorry if i offended u, lynda/kiria/desertman (whoever's who)...=)

Can u assess my stats for columbia? thx =D

for msn, can i have ur email...?

wow this is so ridiculous

yea it is...

Stop using "text speak." It's freaking annoying.

And aim for one or two Ivies rather than all...
Honestly, visit the schools and figure out what you want.

This may be presumptuous, but since you are Chinese--and I am half-Chinese--tell your parents to get off your back. Just because something is "Ivy" does not mean it is necessarily good. You should pick something you would be happy pursuing, not just because it's an Ivy. (I mean it's obvious this is all you care about if you post it in every single Ivy forum.)

Otherwise you will spend the rest of your life miserable-- not to mention be miserable at university despite it being an Ivy-- and you won't have any idea what you want.

lol ya concurred with delicatess, you need to know what you WANT to do after grad and select your schools based on that. ivy league means jack if you like graduate with a philosophy major.

lol that comment's gona hurt some people (hey some people actually like philosophy)

Oh come on. If anyone gets their feelings hurt by that, they aren't tough enough for life.

ok, no constructive advice, oh well, i'll just apply then ---last smiley =)

hope i c u guyz in Columbia!

Aliliu, I remember you from the old cc forum (from the days of Serene and ZergVvin). Seeing some of the old timers posting again does bring back its share of memories.

I'm not gonna comment on your school selection or what schools you apply to, that's your prerogative. As for your chances at these top schools: you certainly have the numbers and qualifications; how you present yourself through your essays is going to be key. Make sure your applications reflect to the max who you are. No one can dismiss your stats and your accomplishments, but that doesn't mean you should let them do the talking for you.

Good luck.
