General Comments & Advice: Find out who you are and what kind of person you want to portray yourself as. Be as close to yourself as possible, and weave these essays to do that. Each part of your application is very important, so don’t slack off on any of it! Don’t ask teachers you’re unsure of to write you recommendations, and do research (from the seniors) to see which teachers they picked and what advice they have for you. Take advantage of the opportunities around you. Read the admissions blogs! Namely – “Applying Sideways” and “How to Write a College Essay.” Those two posts helped me tremendously, not only on my MIT app, but on all my other apps as well.
