Cooper Union EE classes?

<p>Can anyone share details about what classes the freshman Electrical Engineers typically take? And how the classes are like? I heard the students learn to build clocks and calculators already during the first year..is that true?
One class I really want to take is one that involves Computer Science</p>

<p>One of my friends parents told me about their friends kids…
complicated but lol
So she is currently a sophomore EE at Cooper Union.
All she managed to say was:
freshman year was ok. now I’ll just be happy if i pass.</p>

<p>And then she kinda passed out because she was so sleep-deprived… which is what i’ve heard.
I hope to provide more details when she wakes up… XD</p>

<p>Thank you ripples, I’ve already searched those up. I was looking more for details within those classes… like, what programming language do they teach for Intro to Computer Science and stuff.
And YuhikoJay, I’m not that surprised by that story, but it makes me even more scared lol. I would be grateful if she could provide any details of freshman year that I could expect.</p>

<p>LOL Krazy you are definitely not the only one who is scared XD
The sophomore EE graduated from Lynbrook High in Cupertino or Palo Alto or Sunnyvale or Mountain View… I’m too lazy to look it up XD but somewhere in that super Asian area
But Lynbrook High is one of those intense, super-competitive Asian schools. She was one of the cream-of-the-top, so we can only speculate on how hard the curriculum was during her high school career.
That being said, she claimed freshman year to be similar to high school, a little bit more challenging but manageable. She took lots of APs, so one way we can look at it is: all AP classes? Lol.
I’ve also read about the building clocks and calculators during freshman year thing… I think it was on the CU website.
Don’t be too scared by building clocks, though. I’ve been observing my bf making one, and he doesn’t seem to have too much trouble.</p>

<p>if you are still interested in information.</p>

<p>the intro cs course required of all freshmen engineers teaches C and python.</p>

<p>all electrical engineers are exposed to some form of assembly and will see MATLAB starting sophomore year.</p>

<p>electrical engineers in the computer engineering track can expect to see C/C++ and Java.</p>

<p>building clocks/calculators refers to a digital logic design class where the projects are actually much more open-ended; there is nothing to fear.</p>

<p>cooper EE is not a computer science oriented programme by any means.</p>

<p>feel free to ask more if still curious.</p>

<p>–kt, current senior EE.</p>

<p>coldkitty, I sent you a PM, I hope you have time to answer it :)</p>
