Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship Question

I received the Cornelius Vanderbilt scholarship this year. Before I decide to commit to Vanderbilt, I was wondering whether or not the scholarship would still apply if switched schools (changing from the School of Engineering to the College of Arts and Sciences). After visiting the Arts and Sciences Open House, I became increasingly interested in majoring in Neuroscience, but I wasn’t sure if this would be possible, since my designated major was Chemical Engineering.

You should contact the admissions office ASAP. I don’t think there should be a problem, but it’s always better to have the admissions office confirm.

@Sophie1295 I have contacted the admissions office and the office of financial aid and scholarships, but they just keep shuffling me to another department, and no one seems to know anything concrete. Do you have any idea who I should talk to?

Changing schools will not affect the scholarship. If you want concrete evidence, the Office of Financial Aid should have the answers ( scholarships@vanderbilt.edu ). Surprised they are shuffling you elsewhere. Maybe just give them a call instead of emailing.

Contact Brent Tener…he handles the merit financial aid

@Pancaked When I called the Office of Financial Aid, the person I spoke to told me that the scholarship could not be transferred (he seemed confused however, thinking that the CV was affiliated with VUSE). I’ll be sure to contact Brent Tener for further information. Thank you both for your help!

I’m sure you would prefer to hear directly from Brent Tener, but be assured that changing schools within Vanderbilt will not impact the CV scholarship. It is a university scholarship, not tied to an individual college.

I think the number of CVs may be divided by schools within the undergrad umbrella…including some designated for Blair etc. It would be best for our original poster to convey his hopes directly to Brent Tener for this reason. I am sure there are CV scholars how have changed their trajectory before.
