Cornell 2020 ED - Deferral Support Group

@3rdsontocollege Oh okay thanks. I was just curious because I applied to the summer semester for my 2nd choice college and I thought I might be able to start early by getting credits down in the summer. Fingers crossed i get one of 3 admit options haha

does anyone know how common it is to get accepted after a deferral from SHA? Ive looked through many previous years threads and haven’t found one person who was deferred hotel and accepted in the regular round?

@NotAMathlete S3 did speak to HE admissions director after his deferral and then sent a follow up letter to HE in February to support his application and update on EC’s and first semester grades. His GC also sent an email in February to support his application. He was offered FYSA during March admission process last year.

whats more common for an ILR deferral, FYSA of GT?

I believe last year was the first for FYSA so there wouldn’t be much data.

only 20 students received FYSA for human ecology last year. I’m assuming more people get the GT offer.

Last year FYSA info: http://admissions.cornell.edu/first-year-spring-admission

@jgalls Unfortunately, I don’t think FYSA is offered to deferred ILR applicants; however, GTs appear to be quite common. I was also deferred ILR. :^))

Adcoms are supposed to talk to GC. It works both ways. If Adcom wants additional info about an applicant, he will contact the GC for it. If GC has questions or wants to give additional info about an applicant, he should be able to contact adcom.

My kid’s GC called Cornell when she was deferred. My friend’s daughter was also deferred. When they asked the GC to call, the GC told them Adcom wouldn’t normally talk to GC. My kid’s school GCs had conference calls with many schools prior to the decision day to discuss the applicants.

So how are y’all doing?

Im doing fine. You guys excited to find out if we made it in?

scared as usual
