Hi I am interested in applying Cornell's AEM
Does AEM have a separate admission process from CALS?
If it doesn't how do I get into AEM? Do I have to get into CALS first and then apply for AEM?

Also, as far as I know, Cornell is a need-blind school and gives financial aid strictly based on academic achievement. Then, why do I hear things such as Cornell rarely gives financial aid to students whose parents earn more than 150K??

All applicants to CALS must declare a major in their application, so you would just state Applied Economics and Management as your major there. If you’re accepted, you’d automatically be in the program.

“Need-blind” refers to the policy that Cornell will not factor in your financial need as a consideration in its admissions decision. Basically, Cornell won’t reject you because they would have to give you 60K for you to be able to afford the school. Their financial aid is still based on your need, and Cornell does not give financial aid based on academic achievement.

No. You apply directly into AEM. If you visit and do the info session you will receive a separate piece of paper detailing the stats, history and other information on the major. Although it is located in CALS, you are applying to AEM and your application is reviewed by Dyson application officers.

Can you apply more than one departments/majors within CALS? since Dyson is so competitive, I would like to have the option to get into CALS (even though rejected by AEM).
