yes, Cornell students are very philanthropic and charitable, don't make hypothetical statements and excuses

lazard doesnt recruit at AEM?

they recruited for Cornell as a whole, which includes AEM..its complicated..some firms recruit for both all of cornell and some jsut recruit form AEM - the only top firm that doesn't recruit here is blackstone - and they maybe take 5 kids in total throughout the country for their analyst class (from wharton and harvard)

UVa's McIntire sent three kids to Blackstone Group in the 2005 class. They recruit on Ground.

by Ground, I meant campus.

Blackstone also racruits at Ross.

I don't see Cornell on the list. Not to say that they don't, I've just heard it's a lot harder when you're not one of the schools on their 'list'.

As for Blackstone only hiring from Harvard and Wharton? I don't think so. They're on the list for Business Honors at UT Austin http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/programs/bhp/corporate/recruit.asp

The schools on Lazard's list on the target schools out of all the schools Lazard recruits from.

Blackstone Group recruits at less than 8 schools, though. They used to have a list of target schools on their website, which included Harvard, Penn, Michigan and Virginia.............and some others, maybe UT-Austin.

I'm a current student at Ross, and I believe that the school definitely gives one the opportunity to get any job out there. Whether or not it is better than Cornell AEM is really beyond me, and to be honest, I think its a moot point. A lot of it is up to the individual. I just wanted to give some additional statistics for potential students to use.

We have a locale database for graduating BBAs to list where they will be working this year (Rememeber that this shows acceptances and not offers. I know many people with multiple offers from good firms). So far, only about 100 students of the class of 360 have responded, but here is the breakdown of companies that have hired students thus far (I only listed banks and consulting firms)

ABN Amro 1
AT Kearney 1
Bank of America 3
Bear Sterns 2
Booz Allen Hamilton 2
CIBC 3
Citigroup 2
Credit Suisse 8
Deloitte Consulting 2
Deutsche Bank 2
Goldman Sachs 4
JP Morgan 7
Lehman Brothers 3
Merrill Lynch 1
Morgan Stanley 4
Mercer 2
Rothschild 2
UBS 7

I do know at least one person who is going to Lazard as well, and at least three into McKinsey. Hope this is useful. Please don't ask me to post the link because this is something that only current students can access.

Sin87,
Is this your first year at ross and would you mind posting your high school stats? How is Ross, are you enjoying it?

Thanks

No, I'm a graduating senior. Which kinda explains why I'm so free to post stuff online despite being in the business school.

I don't see how my high school stats are relevant, especially since I had to apply to Ross after my sophmore year. I am actually an int'l student, so I don't have a high school GPA like most of you do. I did represent my country in a sport, and my SAT score was 700v 800m.

As for lifestyle in Ross, I would say that there is a healthy competition among students. Everyone in the school is a good student, and we're all competiting for grades, and more importantly, jobs. That being said, most people are generally pretty friendly, especially among fellow business school students. I think there is a camaraderie among Ross students which is among the best in the college, and most of us are proud to be BBA students. One of the major complaints of LSA is that it is huge and impersonal, and you don't really get that in Ross. Most of us agree that it seems a little like high school, where it appears as if everyone knows everyone else.

Of course, there are several things which could be improved. I think that many students go into Ross with pre-formed friendships or groups, and to those on the outside looking in, it can be an unfriendly place. But I would say that most students find their clique eventually. And of course there are the usual stuck-ups, although there were fewer than I expected, considering that it is an environment of extremely motivated individuals.

Thanks....

Blackstone recruits at Kelley as well. They hired an analyst from Kelly last year.
