Cornell and the ACT

Are there any Cornell students who were accepted purely based on their ACT or scores? Who have been accepted this year based on their ACT score? Who submitted a lower SAT score than their ACT score?

i was given a GT and i only sent ACT to CALS and nothing else.

i applied and was accepted to ILR and submitted only my ACT score (class of 2011)

If you don't mind me asking, what were your ACT scores? The regular SAT is not my thing, but I'd like to set a target score; I want to apply for early decision to CoE next year.

I also was admitted to ILR and submitted only an ACT score of 32 with a 36 writing subscore.

Anybody else have something to add to this?

Accepted CALS AEM with a 27 ACT. Only submitted ACT.

Daughter accepted ED for Architecture
33 Composite: Math 35, Reading 34, Writing 34, Science 30

I'm feelin you man, I only got a 2080 (composite after taking twice) on the SAT. although that's good, my ACT was much better. 34. They really are the same thing.

34 comp
35 english
33 math
35 reading
33 science
12 writing

I'm kind of confused here, though. What are Cornell's testing requirements? If you take the ACT, do you still need to submit two SAT II scores? The reason I ask is because some people said they only submitted the ACT.

tux-

Each of Cornell's different schools has a different standardized testing requirement: http://admissions.cornell.edu/downloads/freshman_reqs_timetable.pdf .

That's the thing. The ACT does not exempt me from the subject test requirements for the College of Engineering, which means that my SAT scores will show up as well, and those I'm not proud of and will never be proud of.

My S took ACT's and did much better overall in english. SAT first CR 590,,then 620, MAth 800......ACT 35 35 math and 35 science..accepted into cornell engineering..take the ACTS!!

i sent in both, but my act was better (34 compared to 2280). figured they might as well know all about me, strengths, weaknesses, and all. it seems to have worked out. :)

Take the ACTs. Yes you will have to take the SATIIs. My D took Bio(Mol) and the IIC in math. For Cornell Arch she only needed the math. But some schools required two subject tests. For others she did not need to take ANY SATIIs if you just submitted the ACTs. So if you don't want them to see your SATI then don't submit them. Make a list of requirements for the schools that you are planning to apply to. The SATs II are more geared to assess whether you know the content and subject. If you already sent in the scores, the school will reconsider you highest test. It will be OK.... Did you take the ACT yet?? Remember, unlike the SAT I you can take the ACT and just submit your highest composite.

I plan on taking the ACT in June, and I'm very confident about it, since I've been scoring 33-35 on practice tests. Somebody else answered my question in another thread. That person said that if I don't want Cornell or any school to consider my SAT scores, then I shouldn't indicate them on my common application; I should only report my ACT and SAT II scores, since that is what I will be relying on. Even though, when I send out SAT II scores, colleges will have also see my SAT score, they won't pay attention to it because, technically, I didn't give it to them to work with.
