Im planning to come to Cornell Days next week, but I'll be arriving on campus at 4:00am. I was wondering if there was anyplace open for breakfast or anywhere to hang out until the checkin at 8:00am i believe

Also, Ill be leaving at 4:00am that night for the bus, so is there anyplace I can hangout as well?

The only 24 hour facility on Campus is Uris Library, but you need a Cornell ID to enter. You could probably loaf around in the lobby of the Statler Hotel or one of the many academic building that go unlocked. Or a student on these boards could offer to let you crash in their lounge.

Shortstop Deli (down by the Commons) is open 24 hours a day. Order a WGC. It's delicious.

You do not need to register for day visits (although you can), you may just show up. You will not get a confirmation for day registration, other than the screen after you submit your registration.
If you would like to be hosted overnight by a student host, you can submit a request online at: Cornell University Undergraduate Admissions Office -CORNELL DAYS
Overnight hosting is limited, so you should register as soon as possible. If you register for overnight hosting, you will receive an email either confirming your stay, or asking you to choose a new date (if your date(s) was full). You will usually receive such an email within 3 days of submitting your request, however so many requests have been submitted that confirmations are running a bit behind at this point.
If you must make travel plans before receiving an overnight confirmation, you should make a reservation at a hotel. You can cancel the hotel if you receive an overnight spot, but there is no guarantee that your requested overnight date will be available. All of the student hosts are volunteers, so they can't be required to host you if you made travel arrangements before finding out if your requested night was available.
