Cornell ED Class of 2021 Discussion Thread

@quietdesperation Now we play the waiting game…

If you did well the first quarter, I would send the grades in. Many GCs would automatically send in the interim grades because many colleges do ask for them.

I just talked to my GC about 1st quarter grades and he said he’s never encountered a college asking for Q1 grades. He did say that if Cornell emails him or the registrar they will send them automatically, and if they contact me he’ll send them.

@AlexDad2016 she’s trying to get all the other supplemental essays done before cornell releases their decisions. Hopefully, it will be a waste of time!

@quietdesperation Same for mine. She has Emory and Tulane ready to submit for EA and a slew she will work on between Nov 15 and Dec 15.

unfortunately, she refused to apply to emory, would have been a good fit and based on naviance, a likely admit. still, I’m sure they’ll have some others in common.

@quietdesperation Did she visit? And yeah it was sweet spot from an overall reputation/endowment/admission rate perspective. My daughter is on the fence about applying to Vandy and Rice.

@AlexDad2016 we let her take one plane trip, she decided the best roi was wash u as they’re rumored to heavily weight campus visits. Vandy fell by the wayside due to the prominence of greek life. Rice is still high on her list. Rochester is very friendly to our school so that looks to be her safety. She’ll also take a crack at dartmouth, duke and cmu.

@quietdesperation Yeah mine is applying RD Dartmouth. Tried and failed to get her interested in Wash U. They seem to want just under the IVY sweet spot, so seems like another good pick.

Does anyone have an idea when ED decision is coming out? Last year it was Dec. 10. Will it be earlier or later this year?

@yitian9898 decisions come out before Cornell’s Winter break, my hunch is that it’s the 8th or 15th.

@vigilia
Will we be notified of the decision date beforehand or are we going to be kept in the dark until we receive the decisions email?

Assuming in the dark. But check the admission’s site towards back end of November…maybe they will give some indication…but I doubt it.

Is IDOC the same thing as CSS or is it separate?

Also, traditionally they will let you know a few weeks in advance of the decision date.

I think it is different…it’s how you actually give the key financial documents to the school.

I don’t even see CSS profile on the to do list! Lol after spending so much time on it…So I tried to set up the IDOC account and it’s saying my SSN and DOB don’t match anyone applying for 2017-2018 aid :frowning:

CSS and FASFA are doing the same thing…evaluating EFC. IDOC is the repository for things like tax return, W-2, etc. You get an email when IDOC is ready to accept docs. Are you checked off on everything in the portal?

From Cornell admssions site:

“You will only be able to submit materials to IDOC after you have completed your FAFSA and received an email from the College Board with IDOC submission instructions.”

@jionrubia the Cornell website will add ED notification date about a week before the date. You will get instructions on how to log in for your decision.

We won’t be in the dark, they usually announce it about 2 weeks before decisions are released, I’m guessing the 15th, but it might be the 8th.

ok cool thanks
