Cornell ED Class of 2021 Discussion Thread

I submitted my FAFSA last month and double checked that I sent it to Cornell University (correct school code and everything) but they still haven’t received it.

They might not start gathering the financial aid stuff until the deadline? Not sure at all on that-- just a hunch.

I just called the office of FA today and they said that they have not yet started to review FAFSA yet and that IDOC IDs and submission will be released next Monday or Tuesday. So I guess all we can do is wait…

So to be clear no one has received IDOC IDs from collegeboard/cornell/wherever they come from? I’m unfamiliar with the fin aid process but I submitted my FAFSA last week and nothing has shown up on my ‘financial aid to do list’ on my CU applicant portal.

@pinkdog13 I haven’t received an IDOC ID. Cornell’s website says that they have to receive FAFSA, then college board will email you to create an IDOC ID. I submitted FAFSA last month but it shows as initiated. But based on Bjklw2a’s comment, this is normal.

@hleeigh ok thanks for clearing that up! I was just stressing myself out haha

@pinkdog13 lol i can’t blame you, every aspect of this process is stressful! My mom is calling them today because we messed up something on our FAFSA so if there’s any new info I’ll post it here.

Why is it either the 8th or 15th?

Thursday. That’s when decisions usually come out. Hoping it to be the 8th so we can see decisions earlier and be done with college admissions (Hopefully) or move on with other college apps.

3 yrs ago they were notified on a Thursday (12/12) that ED decisions would come out on Monday (12/16).

Three years ago was the year with the problem with the Common App IIRC so many schools extended the ED application deadline and the notification date was a little later than usual. I think the last couple of years it has been a little earlier in December.

the problem was hurricane sandy, I recall we still didn’t have power in our house on the ed submit date. I’m guessing the 8th unless there was a large uptick in apps.

@quietdesperation I hope it will be the 8th. Waiting is not fun.

So nervous! has anyone applied/know of someone who has applied to the animal science major in CALS?
Does anyone know how difficult it is to get in??

Wishing the best of luck to all of you!!

@hleeigh When did you submit your application? Way ahead of the deadline?
I’m applying to CAS but still haven’t received any email about an interview…People in my city are getting emails. Getting a little bit worried…

@crooked I submitted a couple of weeks before the deadline, and they received all of my materials Nov 2. I got the email the same day. I wouldn’t worry about it though, I know someone who applied to CAS even earlier than I did and hasn’t heard anything. It doesn’t matter that much, so don’t stress about it. I applied to CALS btw.

@hleeigh Thanks and the best of luck to you!

@crooked thanks, you too!

Must first quarter grades be submitted?

@redgobig This is not an automatic requirement, but there are anecdotes that suggest they may be specifically requested from time to time.
