@luke28 I do congressional debate, model un, and mock trial!! Mock trial states are tomorrow…
Also- if I am not applying for financial aid, do I need to fill out IDOC? College board keeps sending me reminder emails.
@lourveamerican @connorf13 did you guys apply ILR?
I do Model UN too - wish I could try out Model Arab League though!
@vcq7890 me
@silverphi I applied to aem: I really like debating about economic policies and want to study economics and international development
Did anyone here apply to the HBHS major? I was just wondering how you all tied your interests to the major.
@silverphi no, I applied to Human Ec for Public Policy- mostly influenced by congressional debate. I want to go into national security policy.
@lourveamerican Nice! What state?? I’m in MA, and our states aren’t until around March … good luck!!
@vcq7890 I applied to the Global Health major, fairly similar to HBHS, but I have a clothing company that will soon partner with UNICEF and World Vision, I also have 500+ volunteer hours at Minnesota Childrens Hospital, and I run a nonprofit event at U of MN Masonic Children’s hospital every year. I have also participated in a GPHS program at USCs Keck School of Medicine and will work with the Global Health professor there as my senior capstone project. I hope these count as ‘fit’ other than my essays itself!
@luke28 ME, my team has won states seven times in a row, and my coach is legit FLIPPING out because he thinks we are gonna lose… our best two lawyers graduated (one is at cornell). Great added stress before Cornell decisions!!!
Also, does anyone here have a personal website?? I went to a summer business program in NYC for college kids and they were huge on personal branding as a part of admissions processes for not only MBA programs but also undergrad. Like the regular LinkedIn, personal website stuff web presence. If anyone does, I’d be interested in swapping url’s and giving each other advice!! (:
WOW!! Congrats! @lourveamerican my team was runner up in states last year, we have a fairly new program.
@IBsleeping WOW!! Forget I said anything concerning your GPA, I don’t see how you could NOT get in!!! Literally everything you have done fits with Global Health. LOL you probably took my place in admission to Hum Ec. Im doing HBHS, but the only things connecting me to that major is my trip to a different country educating slum children about health care and disease prevention, my insignificant cancer research, my interest in how businesses work (FBLA President and helped to organize nations largest business competition), and an internship with a surgeon. In my essays I found a way to tie in my interests in medicine and business together to make me fit in to HBHS. Im not sure if that will work so I guess Im getting rejected lol
@nycuser234 same issue here, I uploaded the documents about a week ago (late oops - but I did email the finaid department because I didn’t receive my IDOC ID and it was already a day before the deadline) and the Financial Aid certification still hasn’t been processed. Do you think this will have a negative effect on the decisions though??
And did anyone apply to CALS Environmental and Sustainability Sciences major??
@CORNyshELL I am in the same situation. Mine still haven’t been received by Cornell. The answer is NO, luckily, it has no bearing on our decisions. I spoke on the phone with an aid officer and they said the worst thing that could happen is that we won’t receive our aid packages along with our decisions, assuming we got in. The aid and admissions offices have no contact or influence on each other until AFTER you get in. So the worst case scenario if you get in is that your aid package may be delayed until Cornell can process it. @nycuser234
@vcq7890 Don’t give up hopes! you never know, to be completely honest I don’t even think I stand a chance compared to the geniuses applying to Cornell.
@IBsleeping Honestly Im surprised so many geniuses are applying to Cornell ED. I mean come on! lol. Don’t you guys want to go like Harvard or Yale or something?
Trying to remind myself that to a certain extent college admissions is a total crapshoot
Sorry, wrong place.
